I just finished the trial on this game. I liked some of the piano music in the background. the items were repetitive and some were very tiny, had to use my magnifier a lot. I was not impressed with the mini games or how often they popped up. The developers are really cranking out the HOG games, but I like something with a challenge like mystery case files and I really liked mortimer beckett the spooky manor. just my thoughts for now.

I have to agree, the repetition of the items is just anoying. They were not that relevant either. I'll pass on that one.

I think you are spot on with all of your comments. The first game, I felt, was MUCH better both in storytelling and concept. Your discovery of rooms that are half winter/half spring (that were beautifully drawn and had weather elements, much like I felt the snow added a great deal of atmosphere to Part 2), the time travel concept and X-files type story elements made for a fascinating HOG. Part II is mostly picking up the pieces and didn't have the same 'vibe' at all. You got the sense that something fascinating and unusual had happened here but it was strictly a detective story. I anxiously await part 3, which looks to return to its roots with a sci-fi premise, a conspiracy, and more (i'm hoping!).

Haunted Hotel 2- Just Your Average HOG

Tomorrow's game today is Haunted Hotel 2: Believe the Lies.... I never played the first game, but by the lack of response in the forums and the low ratings by just 2 users and a below par GZ review, it seemed to be a failure as a game.
This game though I played for 60 minutes, and found it to be just an Average HOG, first the story, there really isn't one. I think they are just segeways into each level.
The graphics are very clear, and the cut seens are decent, but really not much variety in the gameplay itself.
I played at least 6 different levels, and in each scene I played for example, the repetition of items was beyond the pale, for example there was a seashell, a pencil, a medal, a thermometer, anda key to be found in each scene, and they were not different types of the same item, but exactly the same pencil, thermometer, key etc.
The minigames if you want to call them that, were less than challenging.
But, the game does have its good points, there is no timer, and really no penalty for constant clicking. It seems like they just hurried this game out, without much though to variety of gameplay.
Because of the constant repetition of items from scene to scene, the very scratchy music and sound effects, and lack of story, I would give this game a 2 out of 5.
It might be a good game to play for Shockwave Unlimited Gamers, but to just purchase this game, even at the 6.99 Big Fish price, for me is a waste of time and money.
At least that is one man's opinion.....
