Gun Bros 2 Preview

I think it’s fair to say the original Gun Bros surprised a lot of people. Its name did not exactly convey originality, and shooters on iOS have a history of being underwhelming. But it managed to beat out the odds and deliver a fantastic – and free! – twin-stick shooter experience. Now, with Gun Bros 2, Glu Games is hoping to improve upon the concepts laid out in the original, and deliver a sequel that’s gun-ier and bro-ier than ever before.

Just might break the record for Most Testosterone in a Game

I think it’s fair to say the original Gun Bros surprised a lot of people. Its name did not exactly convey originality, and shooters on iOS have a history of being underwhelming. But it managed to beat out the odds and deliver a fantastic – and free! – twin-stick shooter experience. Now, with Gun Bros 2, Glu Games is hoping to improve upon the concepts laid out in the original, and deliver a sequel that’s gun-ier and bro-ier than ever before.

The game begins years after the original ended, with the Tyrannical Oppressors of Life (T.O.O.L.) attempting to take over the world yet again. This inspires the Freakishly Rugged Advanced Genetics Galactic Enforcement Division (F.R.A.G.G.E.D) to spring into action once again, all in the name of saving the world. So yes, it’s as by-the-books as you can get story-wise, but it maintains a very self-aware attitude about that.

And just like in the real world, with new responsibilities comes a new arsenal of guns. Glu has both amped up and improved weapons from the original game, and thrown in some fresh ones for good measure. You’ll be able to get your hands on shotguns, pistols, rocket launchers, and even laser weapons. If the game’s description is to be believed, you’ll be “melt[ing] faces” with said lasers.

Gun Bros 2 will also introduce vehicles to the series, including a rig titled “Honey Badger.” I have no idea what that will look like, but I’m pretty anxious to find out. Deep down I’m hoping it’s the actual animal, and you ride atop its back a la Rambi the Rhino from Donkey Kong Country. A guy can dream, right?

The game is only available in Canada at the moment, but that usually means it’s on the cusp of releasing worldwide. If you’d like to be notified of when it’s available, be sure to click the “Follow” button atop this page!
