Tactical combat comes to Facebook and mobile with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Commander

Facebook gaming is going a little more hardcore. Earlier today, Ubisoft announced that a new tactical combat title in the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series will hit the social platform and mobile devices later this spring.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Commander

The game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Commander, is being put together by Loot Drop. Loot Drop was co-founded by John Romero and Brenda Brathwaite, both of whom are esteemed game designers. In fact, Brathwaite is the lead designer for Ghost Recon Commander, and she’s aiming to make a game that is approachable for casual gamers, but still a hardcore challenge for Ghost Recon veterans.

In Ghost Recon Commander, you develop your own “Ghost,” an elite member of the Special Forces who utilizes stealth as well as firepower and high-tech gear. You’re also able to customize and upgrade your ghost, and your friends can join you in missions–unless you want to offer your services as a lonely dog of war.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Commander is actually meant to be a companion title of sorts to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (also coming out this spring for the PC and consoles) and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online (release date TBA). Playing Ghost Recon Commander will let you unlock exclusive items and bonuses that’ll give you a leg up when you finally begin to play Future Soldier and Ghost Recon Online.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Commander will be available this spring, so stay tuned to Gamezebo for more guns, guts, and crawling on the ground.
