"Although there are a few spooky scenes, the game goes out of its way to make everything appropriate for a famous children's author. A detached hand is clearly identified as plastic. A gopher who needs to be hit with a mallet is first labeled as a toy. The story also includes inspirational quotes from people like Helen Keller."

I disagree with this para in David's otherwise excellent review.  I played the free hour last night and thought it a really great game, with one major fault: I didn't find the gopher first labelled as a toy; I did find cheese that had to be placed in an old-fashioned spring trap, at which a "live" mouse came out and was killed.  In another scene I couldn't work out where a "prisoner doll" should be placed. turns out you have to hang it in a noose.  This sort of thing is shocking in an otherwise light and charming game.  It's enough to stop me buying it.  (Yes I have bought and played Return to Ravenhurst!)

Hi Catmartie... I can imagine it looks a bit weird to you, but it's only a game, isn't it??

Many children are watching the Tele and there are many things not suitable for children...

So I think we've to decide by ourselves what children might do/see or not.. and  you did already...not buying the game...

Maybe it's an idea for the developers to give games rates for children our adults just like they have for Movies???

    Just my opinion...

  • Catmartie, It's a good point

    Catmartie,

It's a good point about the mousetrap. I hadn't noticed a mouse appeared afterwards. The prisoner doll is a rag doll without features. Kids see something similar in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

It's not a G rated game, but I'd count it definitely PG in that sense. There are pirates and cowboys with sixguns and fish who eat other fish. I really just wanted to indicate it has some spooky scenes, but nothing like the horror elements of Ravenhearst.

Levendig, in the United States games do have ratings when they're sold in stores. They even distinguish between "cartoon violence" and "realistic violence." But I guess there isn't a requirement for download games.

  • Levendig I agree with you.

Levendig I agree with you.  I am so glad that my kids are grown and gone so I don't have to worry about what they are watching on TV.  Also the commercials over here are quite explicit.  A game is a game, I can understand some people concern but when the kids play games I think they are more amused by the antics than shocked by them.  IMHO

    Hi EIEIO..

Thanks for your understanding... I agree with you and glad kids are grown and gone so we don't have to worry what they are watching on TV.. They have to take care of their kids now....so why should we be concerned about such games?? I didn't even think about it...
