I agree with the reviewer who said this game is more like an interactive novel. I would have to agree. The majority of this game isn't about puzzles, but about talking to people. Luckily, the plot and characters are so engaging that it makes all that dialog worth it. I don't really think this game would've worked for me if the story had been a mediocre one. Had I not been so interested in getting to know all of the characters and finding out what was going on, I would've been bored by the endless conversations. That said, the game mechanics were great - it was easy to move around and to interact with objects and people. The voice acting was top notch. Much better than expected for a game with so many different characters. All-in-all, this was a really enjoyable romp through a re-envisioned Oz that is gritty and saucy - and a lot of fun :) Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I just finished this game, and it really was challenging and fun (thanks in part to the Tips and Tricks I had to peek at from time to time :-) I loved the twists and turns as you moved through it. Actually I couldn't stop playing it once I started. I had downloaded and played it when the demo first came out, but for some reason never purchased it. I'm sorry now that I didn't. If you're looking for thought provoking fun, and can overlook Petra's cynical nature to find the hidden meaning for it, it's a great game. The only reason I didn't give it a four star rating was there were parts that got lost in translation from time to time. Not a huge deal though. If you're considering purchasing it go for it! I thought this game was a winner. I hope sales justify something similar in the future. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I really enjoyed this game. It's really more of an interactive novel, somewhat like 'Hotel Dusk' for the Nintendo DS, than a straight up adventure game. But it does have some fun puzzles, and the hint system within the game is really handy. The story is just terrific, as is the voice acting. The concept is original, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the developers come out with next. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I agree with the user review that stated this was boring. It was one of the newer easy-as-pie HOG games. There was no challenge whatsoever, and the cut scenes and dialogue took forever to get through (though it was nicely acted). The graphics are definitely nice, and again, the dialogue is well-acted, but it's not something that I would really want to play. I closed it down after playing it for about an hour, and went back again a couple days later to ensure I was not just having a blech day the first time I played. Nope--it was as boring and easy as the first time I gave it a try. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I’m not gonna lie, I love this game. Really, right after completing it :x You know, if you check out Wiki frequently, it is a Text Adventure Game (beside with many Graphic Adventure ones we’ve seen) – hard to enjoy but hard to forget. In-game story was very good, I bet Mr. David is a writer, ain’t he? Hope he could co-operate with DreamTeam (KatGames) for their next Dream project :)) Anyways, I’m looking for the second one, cuz there’s some doubtfulness around characters’ fates. ||| PROS: Excellent story/narrative: Humorous - Interesting - Details – Logical; Excellent characters: Multiform personalities, own lookings; Great atmosphere and “Emerald City” theme. Cute animation. Nearly amazing music and audio. Think-a-lot puzzles. Never get stumped. Satisfied ending. | CONS: Text Adventure gameplay might be boring and annoying for some. Some bad/odd minor design (fonts, inventory, objects). What’s about Purple and Blue country??? Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

A very good interactive story. The graphics were very clear and the characters each had their own interesting personality. The gameplay was basically simple as long as you understood the answers to all the questions that were asked. The hint system was, oh, I'd say 90% helpful. Though I was greatful for the walkthru towards the end. Also I liked the way I was able to click to make the dialogue go thru fast and make Petra walk fast. Emerald City Confidential is like no game I've played before. It's part point and click, part puzzle, part strategy, and all of this is set against the story of Oz. Using characters from the Oz series of books, along with some new ones, this game tells a compelling story- we follow Petra as she searches for her missing brother. The graphics are tremendous, the story is well-developed (there's a plot), and I thoroughly enjoyed the dark and twisted world of Oz. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate
