General Tips The Story

The magical world of Eiron is inhabited by "Elementals" of Water, Fire, Earth, Energy, Air and Nature.  You play the part of Sir Albert, a Sorcerer in the Magic Tower.  Your sister, Mistress Lillian ("Lily"), Keeper of The Great Key of Eiron, has been kidnapped! The shards of the Great Key have been stolen and scattered!

To win the game, you must retrieve all the missing Shards of the Great Key and rescue your sister.

The game is organized into 7 Chapters.

Chapter 1 introduces you to the mechanics of the game.

During your adventure, you will be assisted by your familiar, Fellian ("Felly"), who comments on the action and provides unlimited Hints (which recharge rather quickly).  You will need to solve 30 Puzzles/Minigames (most of which may be skipped) and conquer ferocious opponents in Battles (which also may be skipped, but you'll miss lots of the fun).

Getting Started
  • After you start the game, set your Player Name and Settings (volume levels, Full Screen on/off).

  • You can set up several Player Names, and each will have its own progress saved automatically.
  • The game progresses linearly, there is only one path through the game. After you complete a level, there is no way to replay it.
  • Your progress will be saved automatically whenever you quit the game.
  • There is no timer and no score.
  • The "Bonus" choice on the title screen allows you to access any of the Puzzles you have already completed (or skipped) or replay any of the Battles you have completed (or skipped).
Screen Features and Controls

Most scenes use this layout:

  • Your current Goal(s) will be listed on a scroll in the upper left. Your Goals change as you accomplish various tasks.
  • The Menu button (below Arthur) allows you to Pause the game, change Settings, or Quit. You may also press the [Esc] key to access the Menu.
  • The Inventory area appears at the bottom of the screen. If you are gathering multiple objects of the same type, a pair of numbers will show the number that you have acquired and the total you need to find. The triangular buttons on the left and right of the Inventory allow you to scroll if there are more items than can fit on the screen. It's rare that you would need to use them.
  • You must FIND objects indicated by a silhouette in the Inventory area.
  • Objects in the scene may sparkle to indicate that you should examine them more closely.
  • The Exit door will be boarded up if you cannot yet leave the scene (or it doesn't apply). In some scenes, Exit will take you back to the previous scene if there is no obvious doorway within the scene itself.
  • The Hint button ("?" in the lower right corner) will be recharged when the blue border around it is complete.
  • Hints are unlimited, but take a short time to recharge.
Cursors

Your cursor changes shapes depending on where you have it on the screen.

  • Pointer: General Cursor
  • Eye: Look at or examine something more closely.
  • Gears: Place an inventory object or perform an action.
  • Mouth: Talk to or command.
  • Boots: Travel to another location.
Changing Scenes
  • While travelling from one location to another, there will be a slight delay while the game displays "Loading" and shows a green progress bar at the bottom of the screen. This is normal behavior. Enjoy the pretty graphics while you wait.
Chapter 1:  The Magic Tower Albert's Room

You start the game in Albert's room in the Magic Tower and discover your goals.  The first scene acts as a Tutorial.

  • Open the curtains to let more light into the room.
  • Click on the Fortune Telling table to learn that you need Alchemical Essence.
  • Locate the dipper (its silhouette appears in your inventory).

  • Refuel the Fortune Telling table with Alchemical Essence.

  • Click on the Fortune Telling table to find that the Shards of the Great Key have been dispersed and you must recover them.
  • Open the window to admit Felly.
  • Find the objects you need for your adventure.

  • Use the Key on the Chest at the right to open it and look for your Magic Wand.
  • There will be other Puzzles like this in the game. You see a silhouette of one object at a time, which you must remove from the box by clicking on it. When you retrieve the desired object, the puzzle is finished.
  • You may skip any Puzzle without penalty after the "Skip" button is charged.
  • You can replay any Puzzle from the "Bonus" feature on the Main Menu.

  • Finally, remove your Magic Wand.

  • One last task remains here. You must find Lily's key. It is in a secret compartment.

  • After you have Lily's key, exit through the door on the left.
Tower Hall
  • You are now in the main Hall of the Magic Tower, and a massive Golem Guard blocks your progress. He is angry.

  • No matter what you do, the Golem Guard will engage you in your first Magic Battle scene!
  • You will always know that a Magic Battle is coming up because of the scary music and the screen changing to something like this:

  • Don't Panic!
  • Follow the instructions in the Battle Training Course to learn how the Battle features work. You can't Quit this Battle until you have completed the Training Course.

NOTE:  Battle scenes will be listed, but not detailed in this walkthrough.  Skip to the very end of the Guide for an Appendix on Battle Strategy.

  • Additional buttons on the Battle screen:

-     Undo Move Button:  Undoes your last move (and attack).

-     Skip Turn:  Skips a turn and lets the Opponent move and attack again.

-     Hint Button:  Suggests a move to make.  Not necessarily the best move (if you have a different strategy).

-     Help Button:  Provides detailed help on Battles.  There are 3 tabs on the help screen for Battles.

-     Quit Button:  Leaves the Battle (after it is charged).

  • There is no penalty for Quitting a Battle, and you may come back and replay it at any time from the "Bonus" feature on the Main Menu.
  • You will gain additional special weapons and tools ("Artifacts") for Battles as you progress through the game.
  • You return to the Tower Hall. Go to Lily's Room.

Lily's Room
  • Once you arrive in Lily's room, you find it in shambles. Her Diary has been damaged by fire and there is a broken mirror on the wall. Her Familiar, Sathy, is locked up in a cage and in a very bad mood.
  • Read Lily's diary to find about a secret hiding place.

  • Click on the Hiding Place to display this puzzle:

  • Click on each of the squares in the order indicated above to reveal a Keyhole.
  • Use Lily's Key on the Keyhole, revealing a Crystal Shard. Click on the Shard and it goes into Inventory.
  • You need to find shards of the Magic Mirror, so you can ask it what happened here.

  • Unfortunately, you can only find 9 of the 10 mirror shards you need.
  • Felly informs you that the final mirror shard is in Sathy's cage; you must find the key for his cage and open it.
  • Look in the open drawer beneath the mirror. It reveals a Drawer Puzzle.
  • Objects to find appear in silhouette. Click on the object to remove it from the drawer.

  • Remove all the objects until you find Sathy's cage key.
  • Use the key on the lock to unlock the cage.
  • Open the cage and prepare for a Battle with Sathy.

NOTE:  Battle scenes will be listed, but not detailed in this walkthrough.  Skip to the very end of the Guide for an Appendix on Battle Strategy.

  • Find the final mirror shard in Sathy's cage.
  • Place the mirror shards on the broken mirror to repair it.

  • The mirror informs you that the evil Sibelius (who had evidently been expelled from the Academy) has kidnapped your sister and suggests that you check out the Library for further information.
  • Exit Lily's room using the Exit button to return to the Tower Hall.
Tower Hall 2:  Repair the Guard

The Golem Guard in the Tower Hall needs 9 blue crystals for energy.

  • After you find all 9 blue crystals, place them on the Guard.
  • Activate the Guard by using your Crystal Shard on the Magic Shield.

  • In the Magic Shield Puzzle the INNER ring is fixed, so rotate the rings starting from the inside and move outward.
  • This is the starting configuration.

  • This is the final solution.

Library:  Fix the Leadar
  • Read the Great Tome of Incantation to learn about the Library. Here's what it looks like when you start:

  • You end up breaking important stuff. Felly scolds you sarcastically. (He does that from time to time.)
  • Read Lily's Journal to learn more about what you need to do to fix things.
  • First, find the 9 missing pieces of the Central Mirror. They are outlined in red.

  • Next, find the 6 Focusing Mirrors.

  • Place the Focusing Mirrors and then the Central Mirror on the Leadar.
  • Note the small colored circles on some of the Focusing Mirrors. They will become important later in the game.
  • Click on the Window to open it. Note the beam now shining at the Memory Sphere.
  • Click on the Memory Sphere to reveal a Shard of the Great Key.
  • Click on the Shard (it will first go into Inventory), then move it from Inventory on the Exoscope.

  • Now you need to find the Control Panel for the Leadar, which is behind the books in the Cupboard indicated.
  • Open the cupboard then click on each set of books to remove them and reveal the Control Panel.
Library:  Control Panel
  • Now it's time for a "Repeat the Sequence" puzzle.
  • Click on the lights in the order indicated.
  • If you make a mistake, you can start over and repeat until you get the correct sequence.

  • When you complete the correct sequence, the central light on the Control Panel and the Leadar will glow Green (Nature) which indicates your next destination (The Great Forest).
  • Now you must "tune" the Leadar to the correct color (Green).

  • In the Leadar Tuning puzzles, you must rotate the beams from the Focusing Mirrors so that all mirrors are touched and the final beam enters the center with the same color as the initial beam (Green).
  • At this stage of the game, each mirror can receive a beam from any other mirror.
  • Each focusing mirror will transmit a beam of its own color.
  • Left-click on a mirror to rotate it counter-clockwise. Right-click to rotate it clockwise.
  • Leadar Tuning Puzzles CAN NOT BE SKIPPED.
  • There are multiple solutions to this puzzle.
  • The one here is Center, Purple, Red, Cyan, Blue, Yellow, Green, Center.

  • Use the Exit button to return to the Tower Hall.
Tower Hall 3:  Unlock the Door
  • Order the Guard to open the Tower Door.
  • He informs you that the combination has been reset by your sister Lily.
  • Click on the panel that conceals the Lock.

  • To open the Lock, click on the arrows at the ends of each row or column, until the numbers are arranged in order from 1 through 9.
  • There are multiple starting positions for this puzzle, but it should not be that difficult to solve.
  • TIP: Start by getting the rows organized, then arrange the columns.
  • Here is the solution. You can skip this puzzle (or any puzzle) if you are having difficulty.

  • Exit from the open Tower door to the Portal.
Portal to Nature
  • The Portal is your gateway to the other parts of the World of Eiron, so you can find the missing shards of the Great Key. You can see the Green Beam shining from the Leadar in the Library to the top of the Portal.
  • Unfortunately the Portal is not yet working.
  • Click on the Portal and a character (we'll call it the Portal Guardian--because it is not otherwise named by the Game) appears and tells you that you need to find Geomantic Spheres and Stone Discs. Then it disappears into the void. Very Creepy!
  • You will meet the Portal Guardian each time you return to the Portal. It will present you with a challenge each time you return.

  • You need to locate 5 Geomantic Spheres and 6 Stone Discs (which happen to correspond to the 6 types of Elementals).

  • Now that you have collected all the required items, put the Stone Spheres on the heads of each Statue (which represent Elementals) and place the Controlling Disks on the Central Pillar.

  • After you have placed the Geomantic Spheres on the Statues and Controlling Disks on the central pillar, you may enter the Portal to Nature (The Great Forest).
  • It might be a little tricky to enter the Portal. You will need to point at the lower part of the circle so that the Boots Cursor appears.

Chapter 2:  The Great Forest (Nature)

You have traveled through the Portal the realm of Primordial Nature:  The Great Forest.

The Forest Baby
  • There is a baby Nature Elemental ("Forest Baby"), which has been damaged by Fire and needs a Healing Potion.
  • You must collect 16 Golden Leaves, 9 Dewdrops, and 12 Magic Flowers.
  • Collect 16 "Golden" Leaves (which, for some reason, are colored blue, but it is what it is).

  • Place the Cauldron from your Inventory on the Fire. You will use it to mix the Healing Potion. (You can also do this after collecting all the ingredients).
  • Next, find 9 Dewdrops.

  • Finally, find 12 Magic Flowers.

  • Now you have all the ingredients for the Healing Potion.
  • Place all the ingredients in the Cauldron. The Healing Potion will go into your Inventory.
  • Give the Potion to the Forest Baby.

  • Now you learn that you can't move the Forest Baby without a basket.
  • You must collect 12 Twigs to make the basket.

  • You will need to use Magic to create a Basket from the Twigs.
  • This introduces a new skill challenge: Use the tip of your Magic Wand to trace three glyphs.
  • Start with the end marked in WHITE and hold down your Left Mouse button while you trace the glyph.
  • After you trace the third glyph, the magic spell will activate.

  • After you have the Basket, use it on the Forest Baby, who lets you know that the Lianas (vines) ahead of you contain Illusion.
  • Click on the Lianas to get a "Spot the Differences" Puzzle.
  • You may skip this (or any Puzzle) without penalty after the "Skip" button is charged.

  • After you have cleared all the Illusions, you try to proceed to meet the Forestmaster.
  • But not until after you have completed a Battle with a nasty Fire Elemental who had kidnapped the Forest Baby (which he calls a "Woodshie").
  • You may Skip this Battle without penalty if you wish. But the game is more fun if you try to win them, and they are still not that difficult, at this stage.
  • After the Battle, proceed to meet the Forestmaster.
The Forestmaster
  • The Forestmaster is upset that he has lost one of his little ones (the Forest Baby).
  • Return the Forest Baby to him.

  • Now the Forestmaster informs you that he has a terrible Worm gnawing at his roots.
  • He needs you to collect the armor of the Fire Elemental you have just defeated and also to collect spores of the Mushrooms of Forgetfulness.
  • Return to the first Forest Scene to collect the Armor pieces by using the Exit button next to Felly.
Collect Armor Pieces
  • You must collect 3 Helmet pieces (yellow), 5 Shoulder Plate pieces (purple), and 6 Sword pieces (red).

Collect Mushroom Spores
  • Return to the Forestmaster and collect spores from the Mushrooms of Forgetfulness.
  • You need to click on the Mushrooms as they are glowing purple with light. The screenshot indicates many of the possible locations. The yellow highlight indicates an active Mushroom.
  • You may collect several Mushrooms from the same spot, as long as they are glowing when you collect them. Only one Mushroom will be glowing at any time, and the glowing Mushroom changes every few seconds.
  • You need to collect 12 total.

  • Talk to the Forestmaster. He will take the armor and the spores from you.

  • He thanks you and gives you a new Artifact: The Forestmaster's Staff.

  • The Forestmaster's Staff will assist you in Battle. Place it on your Opponent's Board and it will destroy any Level 1 or 2 Elemental and cause damage to any Level 3 Elemental.
  • You can recharge the Staff by creating four 2nd level Elementals during Battle.
  • It's a Good Thing, too, because now you have to Battle the Worm!
Connect the Roots Puzzle
  • After you defeat the Worm in Battle (or quit), you must restore the roots of the Forestmaster in the "Connect the Roots" Puzzle.
  • All roots in the network must be connected.
  • There may be multiple configurations for this puzzle. Here is one starting configuration:

  • Here is the solution for this configuration:

Repair the Glasses
  • Now you need to find 5 Glasses Frames Pieces (red highlight) and 11 Lens Pieces (yellow highlight) to restore the Forestmaster's Glasses.
  • You can also pick up a Sharp Sword (green highlight). You'll need it for the next step.

  • Now you have all the pieces of the Glasses, but you need to repair the Lenses with sap from the Lianas.
  • Gather 2 Lianas. They will fix the frames.

  • Cut the indicated Liana with the Sharp Sword to get sap.
  • Place the Lenses on the Sap to repair them.

  • Repair the Glasses using Magic.
  • Trace the three glyphs using the tip of your Magic Wand.
  • Start with the end marked in WHITE and hold down your Left Mouse button while you trace the glyph.
  • After you trace the third glyph, the magic spell will activate.

  • Give the repaired glasses to the Forestmaster.
  • He gives you the Green Crystal Shard of Nature.
  • Enter the Portal Vortex.

  • You return to the Library.
Library:  Tune to Your Next Destination.
  • Place the Green Shard in the Exoscope, then enter the correct sequence on the Control Panel.

  • Your next destination is Earth (Gold). You must tune the Leadar to that color.
  • Each focusing mirror will transmit a beam of its own color.
  • Left-click on a mirror to rotate it counter-clockwise. Right-click to rotate it clockwise.
  • Make sure all the mirrors are touched and that the final mirror reflects the same color as the initial beam.
  • Leadar Tuning Puzzles CAN NOT BE SKIPPED.
  • There are multiple solutions to this puzzle. The one here is Center, Purple, Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Yellow, Center.

  • Return to the Portal by using the Exit button.
Portal to Earth
  • The Gold beam now shines out of the Library and strikes the Central Tower.
  • Click on the Central Tower to make the Portal Guardian appear.
  • This time you must solve a puzzle that strongly resembles "Klondike" Solitaire.
  • Click and drag cards so that they descend in rank from 5 (high) to 1 (low). Suits/Elements do not matter in the lower section.
  • You can a drag group of cards that descend in rank to another higher ranking card.
  • Place the 1s on the 6 empty spaces at the top section (Build Piles), and then build up from there by Element.
  • You may move any card to a blank column in the lower section.
  • Right-click the mouse in the lower section in order to move all available cards from the lower section to the Build Piles.
  • This puzzle has multiple starting configurations, but only one solution.
  • You may Skip this puzzle without penalty.

  • After you solve the Puzzle, you may enter the Portal and travel to the Realm of Earth (The Cavern).
Chapter 3:  The Cavern (Earth) The Stone Elemental
  • There is a Stone Elemental guarding the Cavern, but it is missing 13 stones. Gather them.

  • Place the stones on the Stone Elemental.

  • After you place the stones, you will need to use your Magic Wand to complete the spell.
  • Trace the three glyphs using the tip of your Magic Wand.
  • Start with the end marked in WHITE and hold down your Left Mouse button while you trace the glyph.
  • After you trace the third glyph, the magic spell will activate.

  • Of course, your reward for fixing the Stone Elemental is another Magic Battle!
  • You can use the special Artifact, Forestmaster's Staff, in the Battle.
  • After you Win or Quit the Battle, you may enter the Cavern.
Cavern:  Summon the Lady
  • You are in the Cavern of the Lady of the Lake. To summon her, you need to repair the Wand of Summoning and strike the Gong.
  • Collect 5 pieces to the Wand of Summoning.

  • After you assemble the Wand of Summoning, use it to strike the gong. It summons the Lady of the Lake (who seems to be a Water Elemental, not an Earth Elemental, but just go along with the story).
  • Talk to the Lady of the Lake.
  • The Lady of the Lake tells you that she needs you to repair the Aquatic Clepsydra (more later on this).
  • She gives you a new Artifact for Battles: The Vial-which will completely heal any of your Elementals in Battle.

Cavern:  Conjuring Box Puzzle
  • First, you need to examine the Conjuring Box and solve a Memory/Matching Puzzle.
  • Your configuration may be different from the solution presented here.

  • After you complete the Conjuring Box puzzle, read the revealed Scroll.
Cavern:  Find Crystals
  • You now need to find 10 Red Crystals (red highlight), 10 Blue Crystals (yellow highlight) and 10 Green Crystals (green highlight).

  • After you collect all the colored Crystals, leave the Cavern using the Exit button and return to the Cavern Entrance.
Cavern Entrance:  Summon the Fiery Hunter
  • Place the Conjuring Box in the Magic Circle.
  • Place all the collected Crystals on the Conjuring Box.

  • A Viewfinder appears, along with a Map.
  • There are three constellations inside the Viewfinder. Click and drag inside the Viewfinder to change the view.
  • The Map indicates where each of the Crystals must be placed. To place each Crystal, click and drag it to the right spot in a constellation.
  • Note that there are large and small Crystals. They must be placed in the correct spots, according to the Map. It's easiest to start with the "eyes" of each constellation.
  • You may have to shift the Viewfinder around in order to locate all the Crystals you need for each Constellation.
  • As you place more Crystals, highlighted circles will gradually appear, showing you where to place the remaining Crystals.

  • Your reward for solving the puzzle is, of course, a Battle with the Fiery Hunter! He appears inside the globe and then breaks out.

  • Defeat the Fiery Hunter or Quit the Battle.
Cavern Entrance:  Repair the Aquatic Clepsydra
  • Find the 9 pieces of the Clepsydra.

  • Return the repaired Clepsydra to the Lady of the Lake; she gives you the Gold Shard.
  • Enter the Vortex to return to the Library.
Library:  Tune to Your Next Destination
  • Place the Gold Shard in the Exoscope and learn your next destination is Water House (Blue).
  • Enter the correct sequence on the Control Panel

  • Now you must tune the Leadar to the new destination.
  • From this point on, the focusing mirrors will only accept beams from certain other mirrors (indicated by the small circles).
  • If a beam is not accepted, black smoke will appear around the mirror and you must try a different path.
  • Leadar Tuning Puzzles CANNOT BE SKIPPED.
  • The solution here is Center, Green, Yellow, Red, Cyan, Purple, Blue, Center.

  • After tuning the Leadar to Water, use the Exit button to go to the Portal.
Portal to Water
  • Click on the Central Tower to summon our friend, the Portal Guardian.
  • He has another Magic Cards Puzzle for you.
  • You may solve or Skip this puzzle.
  • Here is one starting configuration. They can vary.

  • Proceed through the Portal to the Water House.

Chapter 4:  The Great River (Water)
  • Yes, even though the game told you that your next destination is the Water House, you arrive at the Great River. We didn't write the game. But the Water House appears at the end of this Chapter. Trust us.

  • Click on the Stone Console to start the Stone Console puzzle.
  • In this puzzle, you must hold down your left mouse button and draw a line from the start (upper left) to the finish (bottom right), without touching the sides.
  • You can pause at the center round spot, if you need to take a break.

  • After you complete (or skip) the Stone Console puzzle, a bridge of ice-covered stepping stones appears across the river.
  • Click on the spot indicated to enter the next scene.

  • After you cross the river, you encounter the brother of the Fire Elemental that you defeated in the Great Forest. Guess what? It's Battle time again!

  • Don't forget that you now have The Vial of the Lady, which will heal any Elemental injured in battle. It requires 5 combinations to Level 2 Elementals in order to recharge.
  • There is a frozen dam preventing the water from flowing down the River. You need to remove the Dam, but there are several tasks required before you can accomplish that.
  • You will meet a stone idol that gives you some hints about what you need to do in this scene.
Stone Circles Puzzle
  • First, you must solve the Stone Circles puzzle.
  • There are two possible starting configurations, but you can solve either configuration using the same strategy.
  • Press the button at "1" and then the button at "2".
  • Repeat pressing "1" then "2" until you reach the Goal. It's really that easy.

Catch the Snow Flies
  • Catch 7 Snow Flies in the "Can" provided by the Stone Idol. (We know that in English it's a "jar" but, again, we didn't write the game.)
  • Click on the Can in Inventory and then click on one of the Snow Flies in order to catch it.
  • Most of the Snow Flies move around, so the screen shots might differ slightly from your experience.
  • These two screen shots have been merged.
  • Use the final stepping stone spot on the bridge to travel back and forth between the scenes.

Collect Rocks
  • Collect 7 Rocks. Fortunately, they don't move around.
  • Again, these screen shots have been merged. Use the spot on the bridge to travel back and forth between the scenes.

Collect Pine Branches
  • You need 2 Pine Branches in order to clear off the snow in front of the Stone Idol.

Find Stone Styluses
  • Finally, you need to find 2 Stone Styluses.

Perform the Ritual
  • Sweep the Sacred Site with the Pine Branches.
  • Draw the Magic Pattern with the Stone Styluses.
  • Place the Rocks on the Magic Pattern.
  • Use the Can of Snow Flies on the Rocks.

  • Watch the entertaining sequence while the Dam is removed.
  • As a reward, you acquire a new Artifact, An Ancient Statue, to assist in future Battles. It will destroy all minor Elementals and damage others along horizontal and vertical rows and columns in the Opponent's field of the Battle Board.

Patch the Boat
  • The Great River is now flowing, but you'll need to repair a Boat to get to the Water House.
  • Gather 10 Wooden Planks (green) and 10 Nails (brown).
  • When you cross over to the scene on the right, there is an Earth Elemental Knight waiting for you for another Battle.
  • After you Defeat him (or Quit), the Earth Elemental Knight will pledge to accompany you as long as you promise not to destroy it.

  • After you gather the Planks and Nails, place them on the Boat.

  • Now, you need to use Magic to complete the repairs on the Boat.
  • Use the tip of your Magic Wand to trace three glyphs.
  • Start with the end marked in WHITE and hold down your Left Mouse button while you trace the glyph.
  • After you trace the third glyph, the magic spell will activate.

  • Click on the repaired Boat to travel to the Water House (we TOLD YOU we would get there!).
  • The Stone Elemental accompanies you in the Boat.
The Water House
  • You can't yet meet the Water Lord because he's in mourning over his lost Stained-Glass Frame.
  • Gather the 9 pieces of the Frame.

  • Place the Frame on the Arch.

  • Now, you need to use Magic to complete the Frame.
  • Use the tip of your Magic Wand to trace three glyphs.
  • Start with the end marked in WHITE and hold down your Left Mouse button while you trace the glyph.
  • After you trace the third glyph, the magic spell will activate.

  • The Frame will be restored.
Stained Glass Rings Puzzle
  • A Stained Glass Rings puzzle appears within it. Click on the Puzzle to start.
  • The INNER ring is fixed in place, so start at the center and work outwards.
  • Click and drag the rings until they line up to make the completed picture.

  • Here is the completed Stained Glass picture:

  • The Water Lord finally appears. Ask him about the Great Key Shard.
  • The Water Lord gives you the Shard of Water, and requests that you leave the Stone Elemental behind with him for further training.

  • Enter the Vortex to return to the Library.
Library:  Tune to Your Next Destination
  • Place the Water Shard in the Exoscope,
  • You learn that your next destination is The Sky Castle (Air/Cyan).
  • Set the Control Panel Sequence.

  • Now you must tune the Leadar to the new destination.
  • The focusing mirrors will only accept beams from certain other mirrors (indicated by the small circles).
  • If a beam is not accepted, black smoke will appear around the mirror and you must try a different path.
  • Leadar Tuning Puzzles CANNOT BE SKIPPED.
  • The order here is Center, Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, Cyan, Center.

  • Use the Exit button to go to the Portal.
Portal to Air
  • Click on the Central Tower. Our friend, the Portal Guardian, appears with another Magic Cards Puzzle.
  • Remember that you can move ANY cards to a blank column in the lower section.

  • After you have completed (or skipped) this puzzle, you may enter the Portal to The Sky Castle (Air).

Chapter 5:  The Sky Castle (Air)
  • You have arrived at the Sky Castle. Talk to the little Air Elemental to find out what's going on.
  • Click on the Door to attempt entrance to the Castle. Guess what? Battle with the Door!

  • After the Battle, you learn that you need to Repair the Wind Carousel.
Repair Wind Carousel
  • The Air Elementals are bored since their Wind Carousel is broken. You must repair it.
  • Collect 16 Fan Blades and 4 Fan Bases.

  • Now, you need to use Magic to complete the Fans.
  • Use the tip of your Magic Wand to trace three glyphs.
  • Start with the end marked in WHITE and hold down your Left Mouse button while you trace the glyph.
  • After you trace the third glyph, the magic spell will activate.

  • Locate the Top Sphere for the Carousel.

  • Place the Top Sphere on the Carousel.
  • Place the Fans on the Ropes at the spots indicated.

Replace Energy Crystals
  • Now that you have repaired the Carousel, the Air Elementals no longer need to play with the Energy Crystals.
  • Locate 6 Energy Crystals.

  • Place the Crystals on the Castle Door's Keystone slots.

  • You can now enter the Sky Castle, but the door warns you of a "Fiery Foe" inside.

Inside Sky Castle
  • You find a Book on the Table.
  • Read it and get a message from Lily, along with a Note that has plans for building a Time Reversal Pendulum.

  • Use the Note on the Magnifying Glass above the book to display the plans for the Time Reversal Pendulum.

Time Reversal Pendulum
  • There are many parts to find before you can rebuild the Time Reversal Pendulum.
  • You need to find 1 Large Gear, 2 Dials, 2 Uprights, 2 Base Parts, 1 Top, 1 Center Glow Stick, 6 Gears and 6 Pins.

  • After you have collected all the parts, they will combine in your Inventory to "The parts of the Pendulum."
  • Click on them in Inventory to display the puzzle.
  • Start by placing the Base Parts, the Dials, and the Uprights.

  • Then place the Center Top, the Large Gear, and the Center Glow Stick.
  • Finish by placing the Gears and Pins.

  • You have now acquired a new Artifact, the Time Reversal Pendulum, which gives you one extra move in Battle.

Repair Elevator Control Panel
  • Find 9 Control Levers.

  • Place the Control Levers in the Switching Panel.
  • Click on the Switching Panel again to display the Control Lever Puzzle

  • This puzzle is tricky, because there are multiple starting configurations, so it's impossible to show one solution. However, it's usually possible to solve in fewer than 5 steps.
  • The key to understanding this puzzle is that flipping any switch also flips the switches above, below, left and right. This includes a "wrap-around" feature, flipping a switch in the top center not only flips the left and right top switches, and the middle center, but also the bottom center.
  • Remember, you can always SKIP this puzzle if you find it too difficult.
  • Step on the Elevator to move to the Top Floor
Top Floor of Wind Castle:  Find Keys
  • You find that the Mistress of the Castle is trapped by a Fire Elemental.
  • The Control Panel needs 3 Keys to open it. Each Key has 3 parts.

  • Put the Keys in the Control Panel

Find Gears
  • Find 9 Gears

  • Place the Gears in the Control Panel to start the Gears Puzzle.
  • You have 3 Large Gears, 3 Medium Gears, and 3 Small Gears.
  • Place a Large Gear on the Green dot at the bottom of the puzzle.
  • You must connect all the Gears to power the Gear at the top of the puzzle.
  • There might be other solutions to this puzzle, but this one definitely works.

  • After you solve (or skip) the puzzle, the Dome opens, revealing a Level 3 Fire Elemental.
  • Guess what? Battle Time!
  • After the battle, the Mistress of Air gives you the Air Shard.
  • Enter the Vortex to return to the Library.

Library:  Tune to Your Next Destination
  • Place the Air Shard in the Exoscope. Your next destination is Thunder Hills (Energy/Purple).
  • Set the sequence in the Control Panel.

  • The order is Center, Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, Cyan, Purple, Center.

  • Use the Exit button to go to the Portal.
Portal to Energy
  • Click on the Central Tower to summon the Portal Guardian.
  • Our friend, the Portal Guardian, has given up on his Magic Card puzzles. Prepare for Battle with the Guardian!
  • After you defeat (or skip) the Battle, enter the Portal to Energy (Thunder Hills).

Chapter 6:  Thunder Hills (Energy)
  • This is the realm of Energy, which should be obvious from the Lightning flashing across the valley.
Repair the Lightning Rod
  • You need to repair the Lightning Rod before you can cross the valley.
  • Collect 4 Rings, 4 Lamps, 7 Connectors, 5 Wheels and 3 Multicolor Chip Sets.

  • Insert all the pieces into the Control Panel.
Lightning Rod Control Panel Puzzle
  • Click on the Control Panel to reveal the Lightning Rod Control Panel Puzzle.
  • This is a variation on the classic "Towers of Hanoi" puzzle, except that your goal is to move the pieces to the middle section ("2").
  • The game's instructions are not very clear, but the rules are the same, you may only place a piece on top of larger piece(s) or in an empty section. Think of the middle section being "upside down" and it will be easier.
  • As you move pieces, any slot colored RED is unavailable.
  • Even though the Skip button doesn't appear in the screen shot, you may Skip this puzzle.
  • Click here to watch a video solution for this puzzle.

  • The Pieces are labeled A, B, C, and D. The Sections are labeled 1, 2, and 3.
  • In these instructions, "A3" means move piece "A" to Section "3".
  • A3, B2, A2
  • C3, A1, B3, A3
  • D2, A2, B1, A1
  • C2, A3, B2, A2
  • You may now cross the valley and enter the cave.
  • Whoops, not so fast! Three nasty Energy Elementals want a Battle!

  • After you win (or quit) the Battle, you may enter the Valley and proceed to the Cave.
Assemble Wand of Light
  • We meet our old friend the Earth Elemental Knight, who trained with the Lord of Water. He's a bit too frightened to talk (at the moment).
  • Try to enter the Cave and find out that it's too dark. You need to construct a "Wand of Light."
  • You must collect 10 Bones (Brown), 8 Feathers (Yellow), a Shaft (Green), a Skull of a 6-Horned Beast (Purple), and 2 Yellow Stones (Pink).

  • After you have collected all the parts, you will need to use your Magic Wand to assemble them into the Wand of Light.
  • Use the tip of your Magic Wand to trace three glyphs.
  • Start with the end marked in WHITE and hold down your Left Mouse button while you trace the glyph.
  • After you trace the third glyph, the magic spell will activate.

  • Now you have assembled the Wand of Light and try to enter the Cave.
Make Tranquilizer Potion
  • Not so fast! You will need a map to navigate the cave.
  • The scared Knight has a map but he's too frightened to share it with you.
  • You need to mix a Tranquilizer Potion for the Knight. For the Potion, you must gather 8Mushrooms, 10Flowers, and 4Lichen.
  • The Flowers are tricky because you must pick them as soon as they blossom and develop a red center that glows. They start from nothing, bloom and die very quickly. The currently blooming Flower changes every few seconds, so you need to be fast. There are 6spots in the screenshot where these Flowers grow, so you will need to pick Flowers from the same spot more than once.
  • The stable Yellow Flowers are NOT what you are looking for.

  • Place all the ingredients in the Cauldron to make the Tranquilizer Potion.

  • Click on the completed Potion, it will go into Inventory.
  • Give the Potion to the scared Knight. He thanks you and gives you a Map of the cave and a Decree from the Water Lord.
  • NOW you can enter the Cave (finally!). The map takes you straight to the Dragon.
  • Aren't you relieved that they didn't put a maze here?
Inside Dragon Cave
  • The Dragon is sleeping. Click on him to wake him up and prepare for Battle with the Dragon!
  • After you win (or quit) the Battle, the Dragon recognizes you and apologizes.
  • The Dragon tells you that annoying Elementals have stolen parts of his Magic Lens.
  • To restore the Lens, you must find 3 Gears, 2 Wires, a Piece of Glass, a Frame, and an Eye.
  • The Purple Eye jumps around the scene, so it could be in any position when you click on it.

  • Now that you have all the parts, you need to use your Magic Wand to restore the Magic Lens.
  • Use the tip of your Magic Wand to trace three glyphs.
  • Start with the end marked in WHITE and hold down your Left Mouse button while you trace the glyph.
  • After you trace the third glyph, the magic spell will activate.

  • Now that you have fixed the Magic Lens, you need to go to the Cave Entrance and look for Treasure for the Dragon.
Cave Entrance with Magic Lens
  • Return to the Cave Entrance using the Exit button at the bottom of the screen.
  • The Magic Lens will reveal hidden Treasure. Move it around the scene and click when you find a Treasure.

  • There are only 10 Treasures to find at the Cave Entrance.
  • Felly suggests that you search Thunder Valley to find the remaining Treasure.
Thunder Valley with Magic Lens
  • Use the Exit button to travel to Thunder Valley.
  • The Magic Lens will reveal hidden Treasure. Move it around the scene and click when you find a Treasure.

  • You find the remaining 9 Treasures here.
  • Click on the Cave entrance across the Valley.
Dragon's Cave:  Find Fair Play Cards
  • Back in the Dragon's Cave, give the Treasure Chest to the Dragon.
  • He rewards you with the Energy Shard of the Great Crystal.
  • Give the Letter to the Dragon from the Lord of Water. The letter requests the Dragon to give you a FAIR Deck of Magic Cards.
  • You must find 9 Fair Play Cards.

  • Give the Cards to the Dragon.
  • The Dragon thanks you and offers you an Amulet, but you will have to search for the pieces of it in the Dragon's Little Box.
Dragon's Little Box Puzzle
  • For this two-part Puzzle, you must shift the contents of the Dragon's Little Box around to reveal 12 pieces of the Dragon's Amulet. After you have collected all the Amulet pieces, you need to assemble them.
  • Click and drag on the contents to move them around the box.
  • Click on each Amulet piece to collect it.
  • Here is the puzzle with the last Amulet piece about to be collected:

  • Now you must assemble the Amulet pieces, like a jigsaw puzzle.
  • Here is the completed Dragon's Amulet:

  • Now that you have completed it, you have a new Artifact to assist you in Battle: The Dragon's Amulet will destroy all Level 1 and Level 2 Elementals and wound Level 3 Elementals in a 3x3 square on the Opponent's Battle Board.

  • Click on the Exit button to return to the Cave Entrance. The Dragon accompanies you.
Portal to Fire
  • The Knight was actually the Portal Guardian in disguise!
  • The Guardian informs you that you have passed all the tests, so far, and opens a Portal to the "Temple of Flames" (Fire). (At least you don't have return to the Library to solve another Leadar Puzzle or play another Magic Cards game.)
  • Enter the Vortex.

Chapter 7:  The Temple of Flames (Fire)
  • You are finally at the Gate to the Temple of Flames, and you have all 6Shards of the Great Key.
  • Your first challenge is to find out how to open the Gate.
  • Click on the spots indicated to light the lamps and open the control mechanism for the Gate.

  • Now it's time to collect 18 Gears.

Gate Lock Gears Puzzle
  • There are two sets of gears, 9 for the left side and 9 for the right side.
  • Click on the Gears in Inventory, then click on the Lock Mechanism to start the Gate Lock Gears Puzzle.
  • The Puzzle starts with one Large Gear already placed and rotating.
  • You need to connect that to the gear with the green center near the top.
  • After the left side is rotating, you need to connect the remaining gears to the bottom gear with the green center.
  • You may Skip this Puzzle if you wish.
  • Here is the solution:

Meet Sibelius:  The Final Battle
  • After you complete (or skip) the Gate Gears Puzzle, the Gates will open and you approach the Temple of Flames.
  • You finally meet Sibelius, who originally shattered the Great Key and kidnapped your sister, Lily.
  • Watch the interesting animated sequence, but you cannot really do anything until you enter The Final Battle.
  • You now have collected all the Artifacts that can assist you in Battle. It is a very good idea to use them.
  • Here's one configuration of the Final Battle Board:

  • After you win (or quit) the Battle, Sibelius disappears (the coward!), but he has dropped a plate and you must now find the pieces.
  • Side Note: if you return to the main screen and look at the Bonus feature, you will now see that you can replay any of the Battles in the game. You also have access to Bonus Battles, in which you can play against several other characters from the Game, including the Fortune Telling Table, Yourself, Lily, and Felly.
Find Plate Pieces
  • There are 24 Plate Pieces to find. They are outlined in WHITE.

  • Put the Plate Pieces on the spot indicated.
Magic Plate Puzzle
  • Another Jigsaw-like puzzle: you must assemble the 24 Plate Pieces.
  • Click and drag the Plate Pieces to fit into the frame. The Pieces will lock into place when they are in the right position or next to an adjacent piece that fits.
  • This is a challenging Puzzle, but you may Skip it if you really want to.
  • But you have come so far ...
  • Here's how you start:

Magic Lock Puzzle
  • Wait until all the animations of the Elements powering up are completed.
  • Now that the Magic Plate has been assembled, there are the Buttons with the glyphs for each Element, connected to colored lights around the central ring.

  • The colored lights around the central ring will start glowing.
  • You need to click on the Buttons corresponding to each light as quickly as possible, before another color lights up.
  • As the puzzle progresses, more than one colored light may be illuminated at the same time. Click on the corresponding button(s) before the lights are extinguished.
  • Little dots on each Button will light up to keep track of your progress.
  • The lights will continue until each Element button has been pressed correctly SIX TIMES.
  • If you click on the wrong Button, your progress dots will decrease.
  • Here is a view of the puzzle in progress. Notice that Earth and Energy have one dot; Fire and Water have two dots.

  • After you light up all 6 progress dots on each Button, numbers will appear near each Button.
  • These numbers are IMPORTANT for the final step.
  • It might be a good idea to note them down with the Element and color they represent.
  • You can review the Magic Lock by clicking on it if you forget the order.

Place the Shards
  • Place the Shards of the Great Key on top of the corresponding Column (by color) in the order indicated by the numbers in the Magic Lock.
  • If you make a mistake, you will have to start over.
  • The order in which you need to place the shards is: (1) Energy/Purple, (2) Air/Cyan, (3) Water/Blue, (4) Earth/Yellow, (5) Nature/Green, (6) Fire/Orange-Red.

Find the Keys
  • After you place all the Shards correctly, a Cage appears with 6 Locks corresponding to the Elements.
  • Now you need to find 6 Keys.

Open the Cage
  • Use each of the Keys to open the corresponding Lock on the Cage.
  • The order you open the Locks doesn't matter.

Endgame
  • Click on the Curtain after all the Locks have been opened.
  • You have rescued Lily!
  • The end of the Story plays out for you.
  • Does it seem like there might be a sequel?

Congratulations!  You have completed Elementals:  The Magic Key.

Appendix:  Battle Strategy Guide Replaying Battles

  • You may skip ANY BATTLE in the game without penalty, but it's less fun that way.
  • You can access any of the Battle scenes (that you have already completed or skipped) from the Bonus feature on the main menu.
  • When you replay Battles, you may choose among three levels of difficulty: Easy, Normal, or Hard.
  • There are 14 Battles that are part of the main Game, but after you complete them, you have access to 6 Additional Battles (the bottom row) where you can play against The Fortune Telling Table, Sibelius, Yourself(!), Lillian, The Lord of Water, or Felly.
Battle Screen

Battle Strategy

The game DOES provide help in learning how the Battles work (click on the "?" button while you're in one).

  • Your objective is defeat the Opponent by removing all their pieces from the Battle Board.
  • There are two stages for each of your (and the Opponent's) moves. (1) Move an Elemental and (2) Attack the opponent (if you're in range).
  • There is an UNDO button available if you make a mistake and don't want to quit the battle.
Battle Combinations

  • What is not mentioned here is that you can combine Elementals in multiples. For example, if you have a row, column, or diagonal of elementals like this: X-blank-X-X, you can move a matching elemental to the blank spot and get TWO upgraded elementals (one for each combination of 3).
  • This also applies if you have multiple Elementals in rows, columns or diagonals where making a row of 5 will create 3 upgraded Elementals.
  • If you combine Level 2 Elementals, they will upgrade to Level 3 Elementals.
  • There are also other ways of making multiple combinations that involve more complicated patterns.
  • Combinations and upgrades are important: not only do they give you greater power, but they recharge your Artifacts and give the Opponent fewer targets.
  • TIP: Try to destroy your Opponent's Elementals so that they can't make easy combinations.
Battle Distance and Attack

  • Higher-level Elementals have a greater range of attack and can take more damage.
  • As each Battle progresses, little stone pyramids will appear and start pushing your remaining pieces to the front and center of the Battle Board.
  • You can use this to your advantage by letting the pyramids force your Elementals into combinations without your having to move them.
  • When a Higher Level Elemental is attacked, it will not be destroyed. Instead, it reverts to a lower level Elemental.
  • Try to keep your Higher Level Elementals close enough to the front of the board to include the Opponent's weak pieces in their range, but far enough from the front of the board to be attacked by their Higher Level Elementals.
Battle Spells (Artifacts)

  • You can use an Artifact at any time before you Attack the Opponent.
  • Artifacts recharge after you have combined Level 1 Elementals into Level 2 Elementals. The number of combinations required varies with the Artifact.
  • If you lose a Battle, you can always "Replay" the Board or "Quit."
