Topic: Chapt 18 opening Lisa's locked door with key

Please can someone tell me if choosing the sequence of keys to unlock Lisa's door is a random puzzle?

I am hopelessly stuck right now!

Can someone who has opened Lisa's door please tell me the sequence that worked for you?

Ok I admit it I am at the end of the game and oh so very stuck! I have the keys and I am unlocking Lisa's room where she is kidnapped. I don't understand why the game designers didn't just let me simply unlock the door, but instead I have various keys to choose in a select order to unlock the door.

I have tried every combination of the assorted keys and the most I get is yellow for out of order and 2 green showing the right order.

I have looked at the walkthrough and tried it in the same order and it is not working. Does anyone know if this is a random puzzle? Yikes if it is, I am really in trouble. Thanks in advance whoever answers me.  I am at the very ending of this great game and I hate to think I will not see the ending of it.

I'm stuck in the same place with the keys.  What has worked so far for me was to look at the keys to the far left, there are five of them, starting with the top left and going right put them in this order 1 through 5, then look at the right side where the orange arrow is.  Starting with the orange arrow being row number 9 and numbering backwards to 1:

Row 9...use key 3 all the way across

Row 8...use key 5 all the way across

Row 7...use key 4 all the way across

Row 6...use key 5 all the way across

Row 5 use key 5 all the way across

Row 4...use key 4 all the way across

Row 3...use key 3 all the way across

Row 2...use key 5 all the way across

On row one (next to top row) I have tried all keys all the way across and nothing works.

Let me know if you find a solution to this puzzle.  I'd so like to finish the game and see the ending.

Hello, I think the puzzle is random.  Keep trying and you will get it.  Just remember to pay attenton to the check marks, and ? to the right of each row.

Just a reminder: green check marks mean the key is in the right place, yellow ? mean the key belongs in the sequence but is in the wrong place and a blank space mean the key does not belong in the sequence.  You will notice the you will have two symbols on top & two underneath: the two on top represents squares 1 3 and the two on bottom represents squares 2 4 (if I remember correctly)

I think we all are stuck! I figured out some, I get a check mark, with all the same keys in one row?. I have managed to get to slot 8, then it goes blank, I'm going to try Murphy's method, will let you know if I have any luck.

O.K. I tried, again, my method didn't work, I tried Murphy's, with different keys in the first row. No luck. It seems to switch to a random, after I tried Murphy's, so I went back to mine, I get up to the 8th slot, even if I try 4 keys( one per box) it wipes out what I started? I notice there are 10 slots, do all 10 have to be filled? I'm at the point of pulling my hair out!!!  LOL, and I want to finish it. Does anyone have a certain pattern?.

Thanks.  Or a picture would be nice??

I was wondering the same, when I use (1) one key, for each row, I get one check mark, does that mean it is the right key, for the entire slot? Or does 4 show up, I get one check mark, so I thought I was doing good?

Hi you only have to get the 4 correct keys in a row. This is a sequence puzzle.  All of the rows are just chances to get the sequence.  I think I got on my third row.  Make sure you start at the bottom or where your arrow is.  Once you place the four keys check your check marks, ? and blank spaces.  You do not have to fill the entire grid, just one row.

Thanks Granny........Without your comment on only needing to find one row of keys I'd probably still be stuck.  I finally figured out a sequence that worked for me and saw the ending of the game.  Smile  Glad it didn't get the best of me!!

  • The key puzzle is a random

    Report as Inappropriate

The key puzzle is a random puzzle and changes for each game. This is a logic sequence puzzle.

You start by placing 4 keys in the bottom row.  Then look to the right to see if you got any green check marks or yellow question marks.

If you get a green check mark that means that a key is the correct key and it is in the correct position.

If you get a yellow question mark that means you have a correct key but it is in the wrong position in the row.

If you get no green check mark and no yellow question mark then you don’t have a correct key that is used in the puzzle.

For example, if you place 4 keys on the row and get 2 green check marks and one yellow question mark, then 2 of your keys are correct keys and are in the right position, 1 of your keys is a correct key and is not in the correct position and 1 of your keys is not used in the solution.

You can start the puzzle by placing 4 of the exact same key in the bottom row. You will either get a green check mark or nothing.  If you get nothing then that key will not be used in the solution.  If you get a green check mark then place that key in the second row with 3 of the same kind of another key. Then if you get 2 green check marks, two yellow question marks, or one of each, then you know that both of those keys are in the solution.  If you only get one check mark or question mark then you know you can eliminate the second key that you tried.

You will continue to work in this manner but not necessarily using these exact steps to make decisions on what keys to try in the next rows as you go up.

The whole process of this game is to eliminate the wrong keys and eliminate the wrong positions by a process of choosing what keys you place in each row so that you get new information with each row.  Unless you are very lucky, you can’t solve this puzzle my randomly placing keys in each row.  You have to place them in a way that will improve what you know about each key as you progress. Keep looking back at the rows you have completed to see what you have learned before you make your choices for your next row.

It may take a while to learn how this process works, but the more you practice the better you will see the patterns.

    Good luck!

You're welcome. I'm glad the explanation helped.  Since the game is random there are too many solutions to list them all.  Understanding the concept of the game and the logic behind it does help.  Happy gaming! Smile
