The chess game is a difficult Simon Says puzzle. Up to four lights is easy but at five and six it gets harder. Unfortunately there are no skips allowed in DC2. I will offer two things that may help. The way I play this puzzle is to set back a little from the screen and focus on the middle of the chess board. Try to stay focused on the middle and try not to let your eyes move and refocus on individual squares as they light up. It’s easier to remember where the lights are if you don’t let your eyes dart around. I also take a deep breath and relax before I click the final square in a sequence so I will be ready for the next sequence. I have played it through this way several times.
Suggestion two is to use a clear acrylic cutting board propped up against the top and bottom of the screen and mark on it. I have an LCD monitor so I don’t want to mark on it or put anything against it and mark on it. I have an 11 x 15 acrylic cutting board and I can place it on the base of the monitor and lean it against the top edge of the monitor and it does not touch the screen at all. These cutting boards are great in the kitchen and you never know when you might need it again on a Simon Says game. Many of the computer games have Simon Says puzzles.
I mark on the cutting board with a dry erase marker and it wipes right off. A large piece of glass from a picture frame would work the same but you might break it. So I would use acrylic. Some of the inexpensive picture frames now have acrylic in them instead of glass. So that might be an option if you don’t want the cutting board. Also any hardware store or home supply will cut a piece of acrylic for you.
When you have marked a sequence of five lights, click on four of them then put you cursor over the fifth one. Take down your acrylic and wipe it off, reposition it, and have your marker ready to write, then click on the last square in the sequence.

Try and pay attention to the colors of the squares. As they light up say to yourself, white, black, black, white...depending on the pattern. Then it is a lot easier to do.

You can also try an old but effective method. Have a paper near by and note the first letter of the colors in order! But I am sure that you have been past this level till!

Thank you for the ideas. I have been waiting a month or so to get past that chess game. I will try both of your suggestions. I want to get past that so bad I could whine and cry, LOL. I will let you know if I can conquer this puzzle. I am 65 and it makes me tune up my mind so I think games like this are good for that. Got through D1 swell, but the chess game is WOW! Thanks again for your suggestions.

This is another idea I will try. I have made a diagram, but I think I will try it again with colored ink. Thanks for your suggestions. I am so ready to move on up past the chess game.

Hi all, it is me again. Never did get past the chess game so I decided to try a different name and see what happens. Well, what happened it the game only let me get to the library after the organ level. When I got upstairs, the books all vanished from the library! Now I keep downloading the game but still get no books or further levels. Has anyone else ever lost levels and how do you get them back?

The books are supposed to disappear. If you read the Tips and Tricks for this game it will tell you how to get the books back.

Write down b for blue and so on on a piece of paper, and since the first ones repeat, just add the new ones as they come

I, like one of the earlier ladies, am not as young as some of you. I, too, love these games and think they help keep my mind tuned-up. But this one needs a skip button - truly. I would love to finish this game. I have played many games and completed them all, but I play for FUN, and this one no longer is. I realize that many of you like the more difficult aspects, I am just saying I wish we had a choice. I love to play these with my granddaughter, and yes, she is much more technically gifted than I, but she would not be able to do this one either, at least not at the age she is now. I have truly enjoyed the game up to this point but I am doing something with this one I have never done before - give up, because of the chess game. I am posting, not that I expect anyone to give me any advice, but in the hopes that the creators may read this and consider some "optional skips" for the next one. If not, I will not be purchasing it. I did love the first one, which is why I purchased the second. Again, I appreciate that many of you like the more difficult options. I'm just asking for a choice. Thanks for letting me vent.

I think I have wasted my money on this game. I cannot get past the Chess game and have nearly done serious damage to my computer in frustration. Therefore I will not complete the game. What a waste of money. You should at least have the option of skipping a section that you find particularly difficult. I obviously do not have the eye co-ordination for this part of the game.
