I'm having a heck of a time passing this one.  You need $15,000 and I think 70% approval.  I can get about $10k.  Do you charge a lot for the rides?  Do you spend a TON on advertising? How much is too much? Do you recommend building lots & lots of rides (if so, which size?) or game stands? More or less food?  Thanks

  • Basic Strategy for most

    Basic Strategy for most levels:

    - Start with the Ferris Wheel (people love a Ferris Wheel) and popcorn stand (I also always jack the price for a Soda up to $2 on all my stands. It seems to help). Once you get up to Fair #4 or 5 start with the Super Ferris Wheel instead.

    - Raise the price of your medium and large rides *a bit* when you install them. For medium rides don't charge less than about $3.50 and preferrably $4.00. For Large Rides people are normally willing to pay $4.50-5.00 a whirl. Later in the level when you're close to or past your $$$ goal drop thee price back down to raise last minute attendance and give your happiness and fun factors a boost.

    -  The Haunted House and the Fun House have, for me at least, always been under-performers. They're also big and bulky and take up way too much space. If at all possible, ignore them.

    - When purchasing rides look at  the fun metre first and then the CAPACITY. There's absolutely no point in wasting money on the Bumper Cars which only handle 2 patrons at a time when you can put the 12 patron per/turn Big Swing in the exact same place. Same goes for the medium-sized Abduction (unless it's a Level Goal).

    - Drop Children and Teen entry fees by at least a buck when you start.

    - Advertise from the very beginning. At the very least spend $40 on a 1/4 page add in the newspaper. For the most part I ignore the radio and go straight to TV. It might hurt the first day or two but by day three you notice the difference.

    - Spend the extra $2-3/day on better prizes for your stands. It helps.

    - Upgrade your more popular rides first.

    - Keep an eye on your Financials. If a ride is under performing (less than $1000 by it's third day in) AXE it and replace it.

    - Of the shows the Freak Show will earn you the most, the Magician is also a good investment if you drop entry a little and ignore the Horse unless it's a goal you need to win. People don't seem to mind too much if you jack the price of the Freak Show especially by $0.50 or so and you'll usually see at least 1500 attendance on it even with higher entry.

    - If your happiness won't go up lower entry fees FIRST. If you watch your Financials you earn much more once people are in the Fair so don't be afraid to drop it as low as $2 for kids and teens and $3 for Adults.

    - Another way to do this is have your prices at about $3.00/kids and teens and $5.00/adults and seniors and then ADVERTISE with 1/2 off coupons. I find you get a double boost in both entry #'s and public awareness.

    - Keep your staff at at least 70% coverage. Yes, it costs, but it also boosts your Happiness, keeps turn-around times to a Minimum, and lowers your chances of being hit with fines and bad inspection reports. There's really no need to have 100% coverage. 70-80% tends to be good enough/fast enough.

    - If you have access to an indoor show OPEN IT IMMEDIATELY and advertise the dickens out of it. Same goes for the Outdoor / Rally shows.

    - Once you have a lot of Medium and Large rides available to you concentrate on them and ignore the small rides except maybe the Giant Swing, Kiddie Swing and Hot Rod Heaven. I've rarely made a decent profit on the small Carousel, Fun House, Haunted House or Fun Slide.

Let me know if that helps! :)

Hey thanks.  Very helpful.  Ive been stuck on the Minnetonka one for a couple of weeks now - you need $100,000 - I'm going to try this for that level.

    No problem!  You're welcome.

The tips and tricks already listed here on Gamezebo are pretty fab too.

If you use them (most expensive rides up front, the $1 salary trick etc) and these ones you shouldn't have too much trouble with Minnetonka. I had the $100K by day 8. :)

    Good luck!
