Welcome to our strategy guide for Coconut Queen.

As wonderful as it might be to create your own resort in Coconut Queen, it might be nice to have some help at certain points. This strategy guide contains general hints for the game, a description of the various upgrades and the different buildings, a walkthrough for the campaign, and which trophies (Tikis) you can obtain throughout the game.

GENERAL TIPS

  • At the beginning you are asked if you want to play the tutorial. Even for veterans in resource management games it is highly advisable to do so, because the game introduces some very different twists and new improvements to the genre:

  • At the top of the screen all of your goals for the current level are displayed. You have to fulfill all of them to pass any level.
  • There are two options to move around on the different islands. For one thing you are able to click-and-drag with the left key of your mouse, and for another thing you able to use the arrow keys on your keyboard.
  • When you assign new tasks, your workers will come out of the hotel on that island, so it is very helpful to build most of the buildings near the hotel, so that the paths they have to walk is as short as possible.
  • You are able to catch crabs and butterflies on every island, for which you will get some bonus money, to be exact $5 for every crab, and $1 for every butterfly. Apart from that, butterflies also decrease the walking speed of your workers, so if you notice that a butterfly is "threatening" one of your workers, immediately catch it:

  • When buildings constructed at the coast are threatened by sharks, they won’t pay anymore rent. Just build a Lifeguard Tower near those sharks:

  • IMPORTANT HINT: At every location you take over every building and outdoor good that you have installed on the island to the next level. However, all your remaining money, workers and materials are not taken over to the next level. If you only have one remaining goal that you have to fulfill at any level, and you know that you can reach it really quickly, build as many unnecessary buildings and outdoor goods as possible. They will still be there in the next level. Simply salvage them, and you will have a lot of free materials from the beginning on.
  • You can enter the freeplay mode from the campaign map. Simply click on any location where you have already unlocked the freeplay mode and choose to play it at the opening window.

Gems:

  • You receive one gem for each finished level. When you have completed the first resort at Aloha Cove you are able to buy helpful items/improvements at the three shops with these gems. Apart from that you can also place gems on the map to open paths to new locations:

  • You definitely have to spend gems evenly on paths and enhancements, otherwise you will get problems sooner or later.
  • Once you have spent a gem, there is no way to get it back, so decide wisely where to invest those rare gems.
  • It is advisable to spend your gems each time you have completed four or five levels. Place one of those gems on a path, and spend one gem in each of the three shops. Still, the decision is solely up to you. Of course you can also concentrate all your gem-investing on one shop.

CoCoCoCoCo-Shop:

  1. Material Price Discount: You can invest up to four gems into this upgrade. For each gem the price of materials will drop 10%. This upgrade is very useful, because ordering materials is one of your most frequent actions in the game, and the discount will really enable you to construct more buildings sooner in any level.
  2. Material Delivery Speed: You can invest up to four gems into this upgrade. For each gem invested materials will be delivered 10% faster. This upgrade can be neglected for the first three stages. If you purchase a larger amount of material at the same time, the delivery speed is a rather minor issue.
  3. More Time: Again, this upgrade can be improved four times. For each gem you will get 5% more time to finish a level. This upgrade is really valuable. Most of the levels are very easy to beat in time, but for some levels the additional amount of time this upgrade provides comes really in handy.
  4. Better Recycling: You can totally neglect this upgrade. I had the impression that you only rarely salvage any buildings, and there are two upgrades related to materials that are much more helpful than this one.
  5. Ad Campaign: You can invest up to three gems into this upgrade, and you should focus on it at this shop early on, because each invested gem increases your commercial income at ten percent in every level. Levels with commercial income-goals will become much easier due to this upgrade.
  6. Buyer’s Discount: With each gem every building owned by CoCoCo that is up for sale will be 10 percent cheaper. In the first four locations this upgrades is rather irrelevant, but later on it can be a great help when you have to buy very expensive buildings from CoCoCo, such as Palaces and Hotels.
  7. Unlock Gazebo, Greenhouse and Fire Pit: For each of these outdoor goods you have to invest one gem. Gazebo and Greenhouse increase the appeal of surrounding buildings, but it suffices to unlock the gazebo, just to have a little more variety in how you can increase the appeal of rental buildings. The Fire Pit is indispensable at the tenth chapter of the last location, because it needs a comparatively small space, but provides a high amount of commercial income.

Coconut Grove:

  1. Palm Tree, Bamboo, Shrub, Boulder: You need one gem to unlock each of those natural goods. All of them slightly increase the appeal of surrounding buildings. Since they need the smallest amount of space, unlock two of them within the first two stages to have a good and cheap variety of appeal-increasing goods.
  2. Efficient Clearing: With each gem invested, you will get 25% more materials from clearing woods. This is a very valuable upgrade, you should invest one gem in it within the second location, one within the fourth, one within the fifth, and one within the sixth location.

Hunk University:

  1. Scholarship Program: With each gem invested, the training costs for workers will decrease at 10 percent. This upgrade is comparable to the Material Price Discount, and therefore very worthwhile. From the third stage on you need a lot of workers in the later levels, and this upgrade becomes very important at this point of the game.
  2. Advanced Placement: The training speed of your workers will increase at ten percent with each gem. I did not care too much for this upgrade, since it is more efficient to get workers for less money, instead of training them a few seconds quicker.
  3. Shop Classes: With this upgrade, your workers will finish tasks at ten percent faster. This upgrade is invaluable, so you should invest four gems in it as soon as possible.
  4. Track and Field: Each gem which you invest in this upgrade will increase the running speed of your workers at ten percent. Two gems should be enough to make your workers sufficiently efficient.
  5. Entomology: If you activate this upgrade, you will get $5 for each caught butterfly. It is a nice, quirky upgrade, but totally useless with regards to the gameplay.
  6. Marine Biology: This upgrade increases the amount of money you receive for each crab to $100. If you decide to activate this upgrade, you should really click on every crab you see to make it effective.
  7. Sharkology: Since the sharks only appear at one location, you should activate it right in the beginning of the stage, else it is no help for you. If you do so, you will get $10,000 for each shark shooed by your workers, which is really nice and easy additional money.

Buildings:

  • When buildings get damaged, you are informed about that by warning sound, and a little image at the edge of your screen. You can click on those images to directly jump to the damaged building. The same goes for buildings threatened by sharks or angry monkeys:

  • The income of commercial buildings depends on the number of tourists currently residing on your island. However, you can build as many commercial buildings of the same type as you want to, they will provide you with the same amount of income.
  • If you upgrade any residential building, only its appearance, its rent, and its value will change, the number of residents will stay the same.
  • Outdoor Goods positively affect nearby buildings. You can see which ones by hovering their image over the map. The indicator for influenced buildings is that they turn yellow if you would place the good at its current position:

  • Industrial buildings from CoCoCo affect your residential buildings negatively. This means that you should avoid to place any residential buildings near industrial ones. Commercial buildings are absolutely fine, though.
  • A residential building is positively affected only once by an outdoor good of the same type. So two Beach Umbrellas near the same Cabana make absolutely no sense.
  • At each stage there is one special building or structure that you can use for your own advantage, such as the Natural Cave, the Temple, or the Dock. All of them either provide additional income and may be upgraded, or affect the appeal of nearby buildings positively.

WALKTHROUGH

  • You should consider that the levels of one stage are associated with each other, so some changes or aspects mentioned in this walkthrough might not conform with your current layout of any island.

Aloha Cove:
Chapter 1 – Goals: own six 3-star Cabanas, +500 commercial income

  1. At the beginning you already have four Cabanas. Upgrade them to three stars.
  2. Buy or build two more Cabanas with three stars.
  3. Build a second Concession Stand.

Chapter 2 – Goals: Rental income of $20,000, appeal of +60, own two cottages

  3. Upgrade your cottages to three stars.

Chapter 3 – Goals: Sell 5 Cabanas to CoCoCo, $1,200 commercial income, $30,000 rental income

  1. Of course you might just sell your already existing Cabanas, but this would spoil your previous effort, your rental income, and the appeal of your island at the same time.
  2. You should rather sell the two new 1-star Cabanas in the centre of the island:
  3. With this money you can train a worker, cut some wood, and build three new Cabanas.
  4. Sell the three new 1-star Cabanas.
  5. When you have sold five Cabanas, two new goals will appear.
  6. Train two more workers.

  3. Build three more Concession Stands.

Coconut Queen Bay:
Chapter 1 – Goals: Refurbish five Sheds, $12,000 rental income, +40 appeal, Upgrade the Dock

  1. Refurbish five Sheds.
  2. Repair all the Beach Umbrellas.
  3. Two more goals will appear.
  4. The goal to increase the appeal to 40 will be reached automatically at this point.
  5. Upgrade the Dock.

Chapter 2 – Goals: own eight 3-star Cabanas, own three 3-star Cottages near the Dock, upgrade the Marketplace

  1. Upgrade all your existing buildings to three stars, except for the Cabana in the north of the island.

  3. Train one more worker.

  5. Build another Concession Stand.

Chapter 5 – Goals: Have eight 3-star Cottages, +210 appeal, eight 1-star Cabanas, Balance of $300,000

  1. Upgrade four Cottages to 3-stars.
  2. Due to your former activities you should already have eight 3-star Cottages by now.
  3. Install outdoor goods until you have met the appeal goal.
  4. If this is not enough, build two or three new Cabanas near the coast, surrounding a new beach umbrella.
  5. A new goal will appear.
  6. If you have followed this walkthrough, you simply have to build seven Cabanas. If not, you will have to build eight of them.
  7. A new goal will appear.
  8. Simply wait until you have reached the required account balance. This should be rather easy considering your high rental and commercial income.

  4. Refurbish the industrial buildings.
  5. Another goal will appear.
  6. Train 2 workers and order the required materials.
  7. Build a Hotel.
  8. NOTE: This level is really easy and there should be a lot of time left – you can as well upgrade your Hotel to three stars, before refurbishing the industrial buildings. This way you have already met a rather hard goal of the following level. However, this walkthrough will handle the next level as if the Hotel is not upgraded.

Chapter 8 – Goals: $145,000 rental income, build three Condos, one 3-star Hotel, three 3-star Condos, repair the Hotel

  1. Build three Condos.
