Use the same technique you use in Jewel Quest to move objects sideways when you don't have a wide row:
1. Get two tiles that match each other just above the tile you want to move sideways. They can be any icon as long as they match.
2. Use the SWAP powerup to put a third tile (that matches the two above your target) so it is just to one side of your target in the direction you want the target to go. (In JQ, you have to match to get this one here, but in Atlantis, you can use the powerup.)
3. Do a normal switch of the target and the one you just swapped in.
Here is a screenshot showing the technique.
If necessary, use the hourglass powerup for more time during step 1.
This is why the game tells you to save the SWAP and the hourglass powerups for the last stages--they're the only way to move target items sideways.
Good luck!

Carpathia -level 9 is no picnic either.I am having trouble with that one.It seems it would be no problem, just switch out of bottom 2 corners, but it is a problem so far.

I am at Carpathia, too. What to do with the lotus flower that is at the bottom?

trppd, you have to get that flower to drop of too. I found that using the switch power up in the Carpathia level really helps to move it when you are stuck. I try to save as many powerups as I can for this level.
