The original Book of Unwritten Tales was one of our favorite adventure games of 2011, so it’s no surprise that its follow-up managed to wow us in 2012.  And while you can find out what we loved about The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles in our review, wouldn’t you rather find out by playing the game yourself first hand?

A prequel to The Book of Unwritten Tales, The Critter Chronicles takes us back in time a bit to explore the origins of the furry Critter we all love, as well as telling the tale of wannabe captain Nate and his perfectly legitimately acquired airship. It's old school adventure gaming to the core, complete with smart writing, hilarious dialogue, and more inventory puzzles than you can attach two sticks together and shake at!

The Book of Unwritten Tales is a favorite around these parts, thanks to its enjoyable point-and-click adventure gameplay and offbeat sense of humor. If we were to lodge a complaint against it, though, it would probably be how underutilized the Critter character was. Apparently reading our minds, the creators have gone and unveiled The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles, a prequel that tells the story of how the eponymous Critter and character Nate Bonnett first met.
