First thing Battle Pirates is a FREE game, admittedly cleverly designed to get players impatient to progress to spend money. It is engaging and addictive with the traditional gathering resources aspect of such browser games being combined with ship battles where you can test the ingenuity of your ship design. To address the negative reviews above
1) BUGS, yes there are many, slowly being removed fortunately. The major bugs arose because of the limitations of flash player (especially if it was being used in more than one browser window or the user was foolish enough to run microsoft software with all the problems inherent with that choice). The game is perfectly playable & the great thing is that if it becomes unplayable for a day or two you can leave it & go back and you have lost NOTHING (except a few resources). This latter point is worth emphasising as it helps address the second issue arising in the negative reviews:
2) BULLYING. Unfortnately many browser resource & combat games suffer from bullying by powerful players (a sad indictment of human nature). The classic being Three Kingdoms Online where a powerful player could keep you knocked back to zero every day with ease because buildings and resource fields could be destroyed to zero. This cannot happen in Battle Pirates. Buildings can be repaired with no loss of level, ships never truly get sunk and can always be repaired. A protection bubble appears over the base after an attack giving plenty of time for repair and resource reaccumulation before dissapearing. Best of all, players can only attack the bases of those 5 levels below them so strong players cannot bully the weak.
To summarise ,a cleverly designed, addictive (be warned) and well thought out game that is FREE to play! Give it a try and ignore the green ink brigade who have issues:-)
