I have to admit, I played this game for about an hour without having the slightest idea what I was doing. And it was still pretty fun! The first level is the most head-scratching -- don't select "don't show me this anymore" with the instructions on any level, as they all look alike, but function differently. After I figured out how the dang game worked, and moved on to more levels, it was even more fun. The gorilla voice is entertaining -- select items quickly to make him hoot and squeal with delight. (The goddess Bast who doesn't know how to pronounce the word "hearth" was painful.)

I'm only giving four stars because it's essentially just a match-and-blast visual puzzle, with an Egyptian theme for the inter-level scenes, but nothing much to do with Egypt other than that. It's a nice game for a little break, but not anything I had to drag myself away from after a few rounds.

Ancient Quest of Saqqarah is one of the most innovative, challenging and varied match-3 games that I have played.

Khufu is a big hairy blue monkey who has excellent manners, is quite eloquent and has a manicure that I envy. Some of Khufu’s favorite words are “Well Done, Amazing and Tricky”. I whole heartedly agree. This game has done it right!

The artwork, special effects and sound effects are outstanding. The visual quality is similar to Magic Match and StoneLoops of Jurassica. The music is appropriate for the adventure theme and quite pleasant.

There are seven different types of match 3 games to play as you restore the temples of different ancient gods. There are 72 games within each temple, plus mini games to earn bonus points and power ups. So there is plenty to keep you busy for quite a long time. The voiceovers for the gods and Khufu, the big blue monkey, are excellent. Each god greets you as you enter and Khufu encourages you as you play. When you have played four levels in one temple you receive a key that unlocks another temple and you can go there or stay where you are to complete the current temple.
The game developers even added a relaxed mode to the game at the request of the game players. This makes the game very adaptable to your needs as a player. I have completed the 504 levels in both the relaxed and timed modes and I thoroughly enjoyed both. This game offers a lot of variety and interest for a Match 3 game. If you like Match 3 or if you haven’t played one in a long time, I think you will really like this one.

I could only give this game 2 1/2 stars. It wasn't because I didn't like the game. I loved it-in the beginning, that is but it wasn't long before I got stuck and there is no way you can skip any of the temples that I could see. I don't like a game that doesn't give you any skip options or both timed and un-timed modes of game-play. It's too bad because this could have been a fantastic game.

This is the Match-3 game to end all Match-3 games. It doesn't matter what kind of Match-3 you like - they're ALL here, and then some. Swapping pieces, drawing lines, rotating tiles, sliding tokens, piece-in-hand... It's got them all. The graphics are stunning. The sound is awesome. Even the music is enjoyable. The game mechanics are smooth and intuitive. All this, and the game is even light on your system resources, so you can tab out and easily do other things for a bit without having to close the game. There's three different levels that get progressively more difficult. Even veteran Match-3 players will find a challenge here, yet the beginning levels are simple enough to get beginners quickly playing the game. There are new kinds of Match-3 mechanics introduced in this game, as well. The Logic Puzzles are particularly interesting, as are the pieces that come in later levels to prevent any sections of the board from being cleared. And when you're done playing, there are even SaqPacks to buy to add more levels to the game - and prolong the enjoyment of the game. Of all the Match-3 games I've ever played, this is the one I know I'll keep coming back to time and time again. My ONLY complaint (and it's a small one!) is that the glyph rounds after the 3rd and 5th level of each round get a little monotonous after several plays through the game. I wish there was a way to skip them and just get back to the Match-3-ing! :)
