I agree that Level 63 was inconsistent with previous levels, but it's not the hardest level in a game that I've played. It was certainly an abrupt change. Hopefully, if they do a sequel they'll give you more practice for something like that and not just throw it on at the end.But I don't think 63 is too difficult. Had a few other levels been similar to that people would have been more prepared. It was just frustrating because you were blindsided. The objective wasn't as obvious at the beginning of Level 63 & Level 64. I think that was unfortunate. But it didn’t ruin the game for me. I'm playing through it again. If there's a sequel, I want to be prepared this time. 5 STARS.

I agree with you, Lizzie. I had to restart Level 63 way too many times, but I finally made it thru and felt very frustrated. I still am working on Level 64 and yes, I cannot click the mouse quickly enough to fill the spade and bomb. I know this level was easier for some of you than 63, but I don't think so. If it was easier, I should have been thru it by now. Not giving up yet, but did start a new game,

I agree with everyone on this one. Wow what a drastic change in the game. It took me about 5 attempts before I figured what I needed to do. I have not as yet been able to beat it. At this point I am so frustrated that I need to take a break and then try it again when I'm refreshed. I enjoy a good challenge, but this is a dilly.

I've just been reading BF forums for 63 and 64, lots of frustrated players over there, hope BF is reading. I did pick up a tip how to slow these levels down. I'll see if I can paste the tip here, if not I'll paraphrase it."My computer went too fast for me to grab anything so i figured out how to slow it down just enough to finish the game.
This technique will very slightly slow down the water flow in level 64.

Before you start the game. Run a download or two to slow the game's response time. I had to do this, as well as, run a virus scan.
It should, after just a few tries get your shovel and bomb power-ups full to start this level. The rest uses the resources you have successfully used in prior levels. Good Gaming!"Pretty smart huh? I may wait til my AVG downloads daily files and scans, usually while I sleep, have to stay up extra hours. Or, reinstall ServicePack3, that should really drag things along. Maybe if I installed the game on my old old pc with ME and 98 ram that should put the breaks on. Never could get thru 7 Wonders of the Ancient World on that slowpoke timing out on me, but wow, speed on my new pc no problem. There is a thinking player out there with this idea, determined. Only thing is some who did finish say there's nothing to the end, a disappointment. Maybe I should leave happily on 62 and just say they lived happily after THE END. -
I also thought 63 (which I did get through once I realised I had to get to the right very quickly before the arrows went off) and 64 (which I never got through) much too hard. It's just a completely different kind of game when it goes that quickly, and not one that I enjoy even if I did get through it.I will be very reluctant to buy a sequel unless I know it doesn't have that level of difficulty in it.By the way, I had myself tried doing several other things, including multiple downloads, to slow things down, but it didn't matter. I can't "grab" the pieces quickly enough before they're off the screen.

On level 63 I just had to keep reseting the level until I would get a "good" playing field, with a good way out at the opening, lots of red tokens, and several long strings. It was really irritating to have to do that. I don't understand why Playrix doesn't realize that they are hurting themselves by making game players unhappy.

I agree with you. Level 63 was awful. I tried so many times, I finally just gave up. I wasn't even half way thru the board and the bottom energy was already clear over to the right. I used reset too. I finally left the game so frustrated. Hubby came in and after 12 attempts, got it done for me. He was even saying a few choice words. lolI then moved on to last level,I gave up, he gave up so I never did finish this wonderful game. I am very disappointed with that. What were they thinking????

It is like a really nice game developer created the game up to level 63 then his EVIL TWIN took over and created the last two levels. I hope that enough people write to Playrix Entertainment and ask the nice game developer to fix what his EVIL TWIN did and release an update. I have written to them but have not gotten a response. The is a lady on the Big Fish forums that is also asking people to write to Playrix. Maybe if enough people write something will happen.

That explains it Lizzie! It is true that those two last levels were frustrating. I also reset a lot before managing to be fast enough to beat level 63 and I took me also some time understanding that I had to "beat" the arrows in time. but 12 attempts are not too bad considering. For level 64, as ling as you succeed in the first block (bomb and shovel) the rest is quite standard. And I also use a lot of embarassing language :)

IMO, they DEFINITELY don't need to release an update. I played though the game for a SECOND time. I still have to finish Level 64. But I was able to make it through Level 63 on the FIRST ATTEMPT without a restart. In retrospect, I actually thought it was EASIER than the other levels in the Book of Water, some of which I had to replay twice. It also seemed like the shortest level.I think it was just deceptive the first playing played the game because it wasn't clear what you were supposed to do.But calling it "Evil" I think is silly. In the end, it's all about skill. My whole purpose in replaying the game was to determine whether 63 and 64 were unfair. And so far I've determined that Level 63 was FAIR. It's not as hard as some are making it out to be.

CORRECTION: I think it was just deceptive the first time playing the game because it wasn't clear what you were supposed to do. (in referring to Level 63)

I agree that Level 63 seems to be the one time in the whole game when "the arrows are a trap"--once I realized I had to get through the field before the arrows went off, 63 wasn't a problem.64, however, was simply unpleasant and impossible. I can get either the bomb powerup or the spade powerup, but not both in the time allotted.

I wrote to Playrix and it seems that they may be considering a relaxed mode.
Here is the response I got.“Thank you very much for your comments. I am glad that you are enjoying the game.
Levels 63 and 64 are hard indeed; the players need to be really fast to complete them.I will forward your comments onto our developers. Hopefully, the idea of relaxed mode
will be accepted and we will have a different version of the game.It is always very important for us when our customers are sharing their feelings and thoughts about the games.
Thank you one more time and please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.”
Maybe if Playrix hears from more people they will give us a relaxed mode option and hopefully change level 63.

Thanks, I might try it again now that I can see how it was done. My game seemed to move much faster, but maybe it was just me.

Good luck to ya all. -
I really loved this game. Of all games this has been my favorite. On levels 63 & 64 you just have to be a little faster, but when you get past the first screen the level goes like all the rest. It's just presents a challenge that's very doable. I hope they will come out with a sequel.

Susielee,I hope you're talking about the new version! On the original version, Level 63 was certainly doable, once you understood that you had to get to the right in the top section before the arrows went off in the lower section that dropped down the rocks. Level 64, however, required much more than being "just a little faster." I found it completely impossible, and I tried it over 50 times over about 10 days. I knew exactly what to do, and I could get either a green power up or a red one, but not both. I just literally couldn't "grab" pieces before they rolled off the screen, so I couldn't make long chains.I'm sure that's a combination of having a very fast computer and my own slow reflexes, but it was just such a different kind of game than the earlier levels that it was really noticeable.

Level 63 is very hard unless you are a person who is extraordinarily fast and accurate with their mouse. I had to restart maybe a dozen times before I finally made it. I have to say, though, that the happiness of seeing the lavender liquid among the rocks made it almost worth it.
I have yet to manage level 64. I think it is beyond me. The idea of slowing up the PC is ingenious, but of course will also slow up your mouse's responsiveness.

Your first-time success means that you 1) got a really good board to begin with, and 2) are able to match stones when the screen is moving rapidly to the right. It doesn't mean that it isn't geometrically harder than the previous levels.

I was having fun until level 63 and ran into the dead end stone, lol ! I never had to replay a level...so that's what they ment about traps! I am playing the game from shockwave so no skin off my nose if I just delete it! Will give it another try when I feel into playing that level for 12 hours, lol ! Suki

How the heck do you get this game to start. I keep clicking the mouse trying to move the darn block but nothing. Any feedback on this. I am pulling my hair out.

If you think level 63 is bad wait til 64. I keep trying it every couple of days since I bought it ages ago. I still can't get it going.
Mailpro when the scene first starts a different color rust of steam or water or whatever you want to call it comes through. You have to choose blocks that are touched by this wave in order to break them away. Hope I explained that right.

Spastic birth defect affects my hands. Level 63 is undoable for me. I cannot do rapid hand movements due to trembling and spasticity.
I bought the game since I like puzzle and logic type games. However, level 63 was completely unexpected after finishing the other three "books" with rare repeats (due to logical mistakes/distraction, not hand speed). I did not expect this to turn into an clock smashing arcade game at the end because that would be a problem with my disability. If I had known that speed with hand/eye coordination were required to finish the game, I wouldn't have bought it.

Aside from that, I think the game is beautiful. I'm deaf as well, so can't comment on music and other such. At least there were no Simon 'music' notes type minigames in this one.

4 Elements – Level 63 is too difficult
Report as InappropriatePosted on 09/15/08, 07:24pm
Level 63 feels like it belongs in another game … or maybe on another planet. On this level the game becomes maddening and frustrating. I was having a really good time and really enjoying all aspects of the game, and then all of a sudden I felt like I was in the level from hell. I don’t understand why the game developers would be so sadistic. What is the point of having one level like that in an otherwise pleasant game?
If you have any kind of physical problem that would keep you from moving the mouse extremely fast or if your hand eye reflex coordination has declined slightly over the years, then this level may be impossible to complete.
I was able to complete the level. But there was not anything fun or satisfying about it. After I finished I didn’t say “Boy that was satisfying to conquer that challenge.” I said, “Boy that was just awful and I dread doing that again.”
Oh well, this is just my opinion but I would love to know what other players think about the difficulty of Level 63. Maybe the game developers will read our comments. Send a Kudo Post a reply Quote & Reply
