zOMG!!! Gaia Online gets its own MMO

When it comes to online communities, few places can compete with Gaia Online. The Web site that began as a modest gathering place for anime geeks now averages more than 5.5 million unique users per month and 1 million posts per day - second only to Yahoo! Soon Gaia Online will come to life in a full-fledged massively-multiplayer online (MMO) game called zOMG!

Senior Producer Dave Georgeson was kind enough to walk Gamezebo through the key features of zOMG!, which is currently in closed beta.

Social Saturdays: Mytopia

The problem with social network games is that all of your friends have to be members of the same social network for you to be able to play together. A virtual world called Mytopia does things a little differently, however. Operating with the slogan "Helping the World Play Together," Mytopia is a community that lets people play with each other whether through Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, hi5 or Friendster.

Web Wednesdays: Globs

In Globs the goal is to turn a grid of different colored paint splotches into one giant... well, glob. Use the keyboard to change the color of the nearest splotch, and any splotches of the same color will be absorbed into it to form a bigger glob. Absorb more and more splotches until the glob covers the entire screen, but you'll have to strategize because you only have a limited number of moves to do so. Click here to play Globs.

The gameplay, where you rotate and drop different-shaped blocks as they fall from the top of the screen to clear lines and score points, is as solid as ever, and Tetris Friends offers four different modes to test your mettle.

Web Wednesdays: Duck Think Outside the Flock

Duck Think Outside the Flock is a puzzle game involving rubber ducks, some water, and objects like white ping pong balls and colored rings. But here's the twist: the game doesn't actually tell you what you have to do in order to pass each level - you have to figure that part out for yourself. (For example, if you see 7 yellow ducks and 1 purple duck, then you should probably click on the odd one out.) Click here to play Duck Think Outside the Flock.
