This game is just as bad as Cooking Quest from GameMill. I hope Gamezebo does a review quickly so everyone sees how weak it is. Very short, and whats with the obejcts in the scene? Hos come designers don't spend any time thinking of objects that are even related to the era or scene.

Yawn - they are just churning out these games because of the popularity of the hidden object genre. (This one isn't even worth the time it took to download!) Why would anyone spend even one dollar for the pleasure of playing the same game over and over again? The developers must spend any energy and brains and creativity they have thinking up a theme to tack onto the last game they foisted on us. Come on development people - don't you get it? No one wants to buy something that offers nothing new and the little bit of time you spent on this will never pay off. Thank god we can try these for an hour - I was bored after 5 minutes with this one. On the other hand, before the hour was over I had purchased Madam Fate. It offered great graphics (won't find these here); a great story (as opposed to text book Civil War facts); and hours and hours of challenges. And yet it costs the same! Bottom line BORING - BORING - BORING!!!

.... and why dont they think about creating items íntelligent'into the scene instead of making them only small, smaller... more small....
Civil war is even worse than cooking quest. Cooking quest had a little funfactor about the 'creating meal'at the end of a level... Civil war is just bad.

I didn't care for this game. It was a strain to try to find the objects. Some were so tiny and obscure they were impossible to find. Very unimpressed with the graphics and there was a LOT of stuff to read. The subject matter has the potential of being a good, interesting game - but it wasn't.
Posted by: susie at April 19, 2008 11:16 AM
The concept is a good one but the objects used should have been items that related to that time period. Looking for out-of-period items just blows it.
Though I did like the sound effects and location art.

I hate to to this, because I am a hidden object junkie, as well as a civil war junkie. What could be more perfect? But, it is just a bad game, no denying it. A BIG disappointment! I agree it needed objects related to the era.

This could have been a really good game but most of the objects had nothing to do with the civil war and they so small you could not find them. The hint system was useless. Don't buy this game. Same with Cooking Quest, tried it last night, items are so small, and most do not have to do with cooking, that I could not even get through one level and finally quit and I am usually very good at hidden object games but these two are awful. I had the same trouble with Count of Monte Cristo, they were either too small to find or I had no idea what the heck they were that it spoiled the game for me.

my frustration with the Civil War hidden objects game were many but when the objects to be found were placed so close to the bottom of the screen and the cursor couldn't be clicked on them that was enough for me.
Posted by: linda grosse at April 19, 2008 05:48 PM
Objects are too small and the hints dont show up. You can press the hints but they don't show anything

I disagree with all of you and thought this was a great game! Things were hard to find, that is what made it so good. I liked reading the Civil War info. I also liked Cooking Quest but it was way too short.

well from the looks of it you people at least got to play civil wars all the way through. I got to round three the battle of chattanooga -bonus round.find pocket watch and ten fireflies... found nine fireflies the hint did not show up..at all if anyone can enlighten me on where to look I would appreciate it did 4 tries ... thats 4 hours clicked on just about everything on the screen to no avail
Posted by: sonia at April 19, 2008 09:13 PM
Wow, after reading all the awful reviews, I don't think I'm even going to bother to download the trial for either of them! I ALWAYS read the reviews first...

Hi Sonia,
Here's a screenshot with the location of all 10 fireflies and the pocketwatch as well. Click on this link to view the picture.

I agree with lisa i think the game is great i will admit that things are a little hard to find but i like that.I don't want a game that i can just zoom through.this game is definitely worth the $6.99 that i paid for it. i also like reading about the civil war it is very interesting.as far as the hints go mine show up when i click on get hint.
Posted by: Janice at April 19, 2008 09:57 PM
I think, the not shown hints have something to do with the solution your computer runs. This happens to me sometimes also. Just shows, that the game is bad made or better.. they did not take care to make sure, that you can play with all normaly used solutions.
@janice and lisa: I agree with both of you, saying, its no fun, when items just jump into your eyes... But there is a big diffrence, if items are just to small and therefore you need to sit with a 2cm - diffrence in front of the screen or if the makers are creative and good and hide the objects in a good way in the scene. And I think, most of the people here, including me, complaining about this fact, not about the difficulty to find items at all :)

well a whole bunch of thank you to you Margie B for your help will try it now ....Sonia
Posted by: sonia at April 20, 2008 03:59 AM
Just tried the free demo. I agree the items were too small to find. The "male" symbol in one scene was especially hard, never did find it. Also, just HATE the "mine sweep" game they used to get more hints. Never did like that one. I won't waste my money on it. Love Madame Fate, Ravenhearst, Azada and Dream Chronicles.

I *wish* that were true, I really really do. Unfortunately, look at BFG's top ten. There it is, raking in thousands of dollars already, because people DO buy this stuff rather than trying anything new. It's all about money, and right now that's where the money is. PEOPLE ARE STILL BUYING IT.

Help, please. Would some kind soul take pity on me and possibly post the locations of the chess pieces?I'm down to the last one, and I can't go any further. Thanks, Mama It
Posted by: Mama It at April 20, 2008 03:21 PM
Iv'e gotten as far as trying to find all the arrows. Getting very frustrated as I cannot do the cannon ball game for extra hints. I am not sure but I think this all I have left to do in this game and I think I will have to bin it as Iv'e restarted I don't know how many times. Not a bad game though, but I have done better, and I suppose I would rate it at about 4/10 or maybe just nearly a 5.
Posted by: Mrs Barbara Ellis at April 20, 2008 03:38 PM
wow'' this was the worse game of hidden objects I have ever played.. wasted my game credit on it.I can't believe the people who view this before hand would even let this game get by them. To get hints was down right stupid. Some of the items were either so small or they were so dark and hidden in the darkest areas so you could not see them.the hints worked on some places and not in others.I really like the hidden object games and have everyone of them. however if they keep producing games like this one , I will be going back to word games.

Have reached the end of my rope on Hidden Mysteries. I have gone to the Gettysburg site and have found all the object requested except the one called "club". What Club?? I can't win at the cannon ball game and I don't know what kind of club to look for. If anyone has found it please help.

I am about half way through the game right now. I think the reason why everyone is so pissed off with it is that it's difficult. The objects are very well camouflaged into their entourage and it's extremely hard to spot them. I actually like that, if the game was easy it wouldn't be intriguing.
It could use some improvement on the hint system though, after you run out of the 3 hints given the only way to win more is to play cannonball, which I suck at so I can never get any hints, and get stuck in the game all the time.
Also, the relevancy factor: they could try putting objects in the game that are relevant to the Civil War, and develop the plot a little more along with the point-and-click factor.

MR ROGERS,
You need to look for a golf club. All you will probably see is the tip of the club sticking up.If you need a picture of the location let me know the exact name of where you are.
MRS BARABARA ELLIS,
Finding the arrows is a tough one, if you need me to post a picture with the location of all the arrows on here for you just let me know and I can do that for you.

Well after reading the comments on the Civil War and the Cooking Hide and Seek games I realize I'm not NUTS!!! These are two of the worst games you have represented lately......the Carol Reed thing is ridiculous...and the stratedgy addition is nothing like the actual game...and since the game was just a mass of confusion and cluttered motions it really is a waste!!! Try some of these out before you stick us poor paying customers with these dogs!!!!
Posted by: Bootie at April 21, 2008 02:13 PM
Argh. I can only find 9 of the arrows in 1864 Spotsylvania Court house. Does anyone have a screen shot wiht them all?
Also, what is up with a computer "mouse" out in the woods???
Posted by: c at April 22, 2008 10:33 PM
oh sorry!! apparently i cant scroll down.
Posted by: c at April 22, 2008 10:34 PM
I can't click on things on the bottom border. IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE.
Posted by: Laura at April 22, 2008 10:41 PM
LAURA,
For any objects that you have a hard time clicking on that are on the border, just minimize your screen and you should be able to click on the item then.
Click on the menu tab (lower left side)
Select the "options" tab
Then click on "Fullscreen" so that the check mark is no longer there and the screen will get smaller.
Good Luck,
Margie B

This game was a waste of time and money.
And what is with the clues? What worth were they?
Very difficult to spot ojects and just poor graphics.
I am glad we get free trials. Learned my lesson on this one.
Posted by: Lee at April 25, 2008 02:14 PM
I am a teacher and was going to recommend this game to students to review Civil War history until I got to the end and Lincoln is saved by a game character!! Many children will think this is really what happened. I also was disappointed because I collected all the clues and then didn't need them for anything. What a disappointing end!

I have been working on Escape the Museum for a week. I have found using a magnifying glass makes it easier to find the small things. Also, have your screen at full screen. If you don't you will lose the bottom of the screen.
At least one screen, you have to turn on the lights. I missed that one. DUH
I love very difficult HO games.
Have any of you tried the 360 games? 360 Paris was fun. I use the arrow keys to move around. Don't move too fast or you will get dizzy. The mini games are way to easy.
360 Rome was harder and more of a challenge. In this one the mini games are only for 2nd graders.
Remember these are games and made for fun, even when they are very frustrating.
Enjoy Alix

I need help with two objects. Can anyone post the location of the tire iron and the whale's tale? One is for Gettysburg; I can't remember which battle the other is for. Thanks, Hostalady
