GENERAL TIPS
Some of the instructions have to be followed in the order in which they are written or they will not work. If you are trying to solve a puzzle and what you're doing is not working it probably is because you are not doing things in the correct order.
Some items may remain in inventory even if all the steps have been done correctly.
Your exit door will be marked by the symbol of the man within a circle with a red line across it. Once all the steps have been completed correctly, the circle will turn green.
If you're having a hard time finding an item, move your cursor around and it will start to pulsate once it has located an item that you need to pick up. If you want to maintain a good accuracy rating, then don't click any items until you see the cursor pulsate. Incorrect clicking will count against your overall accuracy rating.
You can also use a hint if you are unable to find an item, using a hint will not cost you any points but it will affect your accuracy points in a negative way. When you use a hint you will see your accuracy points drop drastically the first time you use it, and not as much each time after that. However, you can increase your points again by making as many correct clicks as you can.
If you press your hint more than once it will not show you another item until you've found the one that is already showing. Pressing it twice will not affect your accuracy rating again.
There are 2 different types of mini games in Escape the Museum. One shows you a painting with pieces missing from it. You must find the pieces outside of the painting and place them back where they belong. Some pieces can be very small so you have to look really hard in order to find them.
In another mini game, you must place some weights (up to 3) on one side of the screen so that it matches the weight of the item on the opposite page. In order to take the artifact the meter must land on the green zone. If you make a mistake you can click on "reset" and start again.
The full weight of each weight is 200 pounds so if you have an item on the opposite side that weighs 320 pounds then you know you can let the weight go to its full size. Then, just pay attention to the numbers of the second weight as they increase. You will see numbers on the side as the weight is growing. These numbers signify the number of pounds for each second that the weight is growing. Stop it when you think you have the right combination.
You can exit out of a level at any time, however, once you go back to it you will have to start that level from the beginning. It will not save your progress in that room, but it will take you back to the last room you visited.
If you see at the end of the game that your "Museum Progress" is less than 100 % it means that you missed a room. You can look on the map and complete it at that time.
SPOILER ALERT!!! Here's the walkthrough for all levels in Escape the Museum. Please stop reading now if you don't want any spoilers. We also have some screenshots for some of the levels and all of the screenshots for the levels with the paintings that must be put back together.

Appreciate the walkthrough. I'm stuck on Level 7-the weight puzzle. Any hints? Thanks!
Posted by: mina at March 14, 2008 02:32 PM
Hi Mina,
I posted the follwing tips for the weights in the guide above under "General Tips" I copied it down here in case you missed it originally. If there's something more specific that you need to know, send me another question and I will do my best to answer it for you.
You must place some weights (up to 3) on one side of the screen so that it matches the weight of the item on the opposite page. In order to take the artifact the meter must land in the green zone. If you make a mistake you can click on "reset" and start again.
The full weight of each weight is 200 pounds so if you have an item on the opposite side that weighs 320 pounds then you know you can let the first weight go to its full size.
Then, just pay attention to the numbers of the second weight as they increase. You will see numbers on the side as the weight is growing. These numbers signify the number of pounds for each second that the weight is growing. Stop it when you think you have the right combination.
It sometimes also a good idea to try and stop it before it gets to the right number. If you do it before you can avoid going over.
Hope this helps you.

I can't find all of the hidden "Thinking Man" statues in Room 16, 2nd floor, Central Gallery, Gallery 2. It's frustrating because I've went back to this room several times and I can't find number 9. When I use a hint, it shows that is somewhere under the chair on the column. I've moved my cursor all over this area and it never flashes. Does anyone else know how to get past this?
Thank you.
Thanks.
Posted by: Trina at March 14, 2008 10:11 PM
Trina,
I had a horrible time with that one, too! Same experience--I must have used the hint 6 times, and gone in and out of the room 3 or 4 times. I finally found it--it's a shadow near the bottom of the right chair leg. Practically impossible to see, but the cursor arrow WILL pulsate when you're over the right spot.
Good luck!

I found that by moving my mouse in slow increments (painstakingly slow increments!) pausing of course after each move, that I can usually catch the pulsing. sometimes the hidden object is so small, the pulse is really hard to catch... then I just get frustrated & click like mad all over the place til I get lucky, which of course, totally destroys my accuracy! I made it all the way thru the game without any help finally, til I got to the last 3 rooms, so am going to use your tips to get thru those as needed (I'm stuck in the first of the 3, which is why I came to you!). Fun game though, definately challenging

Does anyone know where I can find the very last thinker statue? It shows it being on the wall on the right side...but for the life of me, I can't find it!
Posted by: Amber at March 15, 2008 07:55 PM
Amber,
I have the same problem. Robin was nice enough to help me on number 9 and I finally found it but I can't find the 10th "Thinking Man" statue now. Unfortunately, I think it is off my screen on the right side of the columns. I've had this problem throughout this game where items I need to find are almost off the screen. I tried going to the windowed mode but that didn't help either.
I've completed this game except for a few Hidden Object rooms where I have this problem of being able to see some items. I've adjusted the brightess/constrast on my screen but it still doesn't help. My computer/monitor are 3 years old so that may be the problem.
I'm stuck too!

Posted by: Trina at March 15, 2008 09:24 PM
To find the two invisible Thinkers you have to use the Hint to see the general location then put the cursor over the area until it pulses. Two of the statues are just not there. One of them is in the lower right corner on the side of a sandstone column and the other one is on the chair that you had to put on the pedestal base. You have to hold the cursor still for about a second or two before it will pulse, so it may take a bit to find the missing Thinkers.

How did you find all of the darn coat tags, receipts, whatever you want to call them. I can only find 4 out of the ten and by then I had such a headache that I quit the game for awhile, even using the tip of running the cursor slowly over the entire scene, which was a great help by the way, it gave me quite a few 100 percent accuracies, Thanks for the advice, but it is not helping on this room finding these darn coat receipts.
Posted by: Deborah Potter at March 16, 2008 04:56 AM
The tickets/receipts are very hard to see but they are actually there. Sometimes they are dark grey on a black background, which makes them almost impossible to see. I have a big five inch diameter magnifying glass that I keep by my computer to help with these games. I got mine at WalMart in the optical department, but all drug stores and craft stores have big magnifying glasses. I am sixty-one years young so it is a must for me. Even with the magnifying glass I had to use hints to find the ones hidden in the dark places.
Posted by: Pilar at March 16, 2008 09:28 AM
In the Egypt room when you are looking for the 10 statues of the Egyptian god Seth, they are black and some of them are in dark black places on the screen. When you find all you can then go to dark black places and see if the cursor pulses. The only saving grace for the impossible placement and missing objects is that the cursor blinks. But nothing is worse than the two missing Thinker statues in room 16. I think the producers of this game should fix that.

Deborah Potter,
Click on this link to see a screenshot of where the ticket stubs are located.
Thanks for doing so much work--it really helps! I can't imagine how long it must take you!
One thing: I believe the "tickets" they're looking for are the coat check receipts in the Find 10 for Room 29. Your picture looks like it's the post card search from the stairs instead.

Hey Robin,
Thanks for the clarification! I forgot about the coat check pieces. This game has so many puzzles it's hard to keep them straight :-)
Here's the link for the coat check pieces level 29
True--there are a lot of puzzles! I enjoyed most of them, although I do wish they had stuck to meaningful items.
The only one I absolutely hated was searching for stickers in the Find 10 for Room 20 (where the bumper sticker machine is). There's just no point to it. There's no reason she would be collecting stickers, they're in ridiculous places, they're not interesting objects. At least the hints were good in that room, but they could have left that one out, as far as I'm concerned. But overall a very enjoyable game. Thanks again for the walkthrough!
Oh, one strategy tip that was helpful for me, although not everyone will need it. In the rooms where you have to keep the light on, I found it worked better for me to wait to hit the light switch until the energy bar was at its highest. Then I would do as much searching as I could while it got low again. (Of course you have to keep hitting the grate button throughout.)
Earlier I tried just hitting the light switch everytime the lights dimmed, but then I only had a few seconds of search time. For me it was best to wait longer, then search longer.

Okay, stupid question. I'm stuck on the Swan painting. I can see the pieces, but how do I pick them up to move them to the painting? I feel that I've tried everything, but nothing works. Thanks!
Posted by: Kellie at March 17, 2008 03:54 PM
Kellie,
Place your mouse on the piece you want to pick up. Click and hold the mouse down as you drag the piece you want to the appropriate location.Once it's in the right place, release your mouse.
If you don't place it correctly the piece will go straight back to where you found it. Try again until you get it. Good Luck!

Hi. I'm new to these forums, but they have been very helpful in some of these games. I am stuck in room 13. I have found everything, but I can't get the hair. I've been all over the caveman's head with the spearhead, but, I just can't get the hair. Can someone help me?
Posted by: Carol at March 17, 2008 06:38 PM
Carol,
You got the spearhead from the spear that was hanging up on the wall? (You pick it up from the floor after it falls down.) Once that's in your inventory, you should just be able to take it out of inventory and touch it to the head of the caveman who is standing by the right wall (not the one who is lying down in ice).

Thanks soooo much for your walk through. Room 24 had me in a terrible state. lol. 3 daze I tried to get the keys. Frustrating to say the least!
I do agree with the comments regarding some objects being extremely hard to find they are so hidden and small. It's still a great game, keeps the old brain active.. Thanks again, Wendles

Hi,
As much as I am loving this game, I'm finding it frustrating that there are times, on some of the rooms, when, although I find all the objects without using any hints,my acuracy is not 100%. Does anyone know why? I have already figured out that the cursor pulses when it is over a hidden object and use this to avoid over clicking! Any ideas? Thanks!!

In room 2, I have been stuck for a week looking for a "sub", "spoon" and "butterfly". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Posted by: gemma at March 28, 2008 08:50 AM
The “sub” is a submarine sandwich right in the middle on the far right edge. The “spoon” is in the middle of the screen on what may be a gold picture that is on the stair rail. The spoon is on the lower edge of the gold picture. The “butterfly” is on the upper left of the screen. There is a framed greenish gold picture and the butterfly is in the lower half of the picture. You have unlimited hints, so if you are stuck on objects use hints.

I'm in the cloak room looking for the ten tickets. The lights are off and I can't see a thing! If I click on a hint more than once, the message says to quit wasting my batteries - am I missing something? Should I have a flashlight or something? Does anyone know where the tickets are located? Thanks
In the security room you have to get the security card with the blow dart then go to the security card reader and put the paper clips on the wires to fix them. Then insert the security card. Then use the number pad to type John Laroux, be sure to put a space between John and Laroux, then hit the enter button and the door will open.

Hi Joyce,
I'm assuming that you meant "hints" instead of "hits" :-)
To answer your question we do not give hints for all the Big Fish games. We try to do the ones that we think the majority of people will have difficulty completing.
Margie B
Posted by: Margie B at March 30, 2008 06:19 PM
Joyce,
You have to charge the drill before you can unbolt the lamp. Read "level 3" of the walkthrough above. It will tell you step by step what to do.

Level 20-Native Americans
Have retrieved and assembled all pieces. But can;t cool off keys or pick them up. Any suggestions? Spraying with extinguisher doesn't do it.
Posted by: diane at March 31, 2008 03:41 PM
Spray with the fire extinguisher and click on the keys very quickly, as soon as you spray.
Posted by: Pilar at March 31, 2008 05:16 PM
Diane,
You have to place the fire extinguisher on the long orange pipe, not on the keys, for it to work.
In order to grab the keys you must do it before the keys turn hot again.
You should pick up the keys when they are silver, if they are red place the fire extinguisher on them again.(The fire extinguisher then goes back into inventory)
Place the keys on the door and EXIT.

Posted by: diane at April 2, 2008 08:18 AM
Diane,
Type it in like you do a text message on your cell phone. Keep tapping the letters until the one you need shows up. For example, if the key has the letters "M N O" on the key. Tap the key three times until you get to the letter "O". Wait for it to stop flashing and enter the next sequence.

The landscape scene has a large tree in the foreground on the left and a secondary smaller tree behind and more in the middle of the picture, beside what looks like a dirt road or path. The smallest piece of the painting is picked up from below the painting on the green wall and placed just to the right of the base of the secondary smaller tree in the middle of the painting.

When you enter Grate Room 3 a picture of the fuse is at the top of the screen but not the fuse itself. You have to pick up the fuse from the desk in the lower right hand corner of the screen. Then it will be in your items and you can put it in the fuse box.

Hi, I am stuck on level 27, capping the gas leak. I turned on the light, found the valve, and placed it where the tips said to right side of dooe above the leak, but nothing happens, it won't latch on. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Tina
Posted by: Tina at April 6, 2008 11:18 AM
If you can not find a hidden object click on Hints. This game has unlimited hints. Your score is reduced but you will not be stuck. When you click on Hints the cell phone immage will come on and show the area where a hidden object is that has not been found. Run your cursor over this area very slowly and it will pulse when you are over the item, then click on it. Many of the items in this game are not recognizable because of the poor visual quality of the images. But Hints and the pulsing cursor will help you find these items.
Posted by: Pilar at April 6, 2008 12:00 PM
Room 27 – the gas valve must be picked up when the lights are on. The game will not let you search for it when the lights are off. The valve is in the back of the room on the left near the base of the large potted plant. While the lights are on put your cursor to the bottom right of the potted plant and when the question mark appears click to pick up the valve.
Then you can place the valve on the gas leak. This can be done with the lights out. Click on the valve and take it to where the bubbles are coming out of the wall on the right. A light picture of the valve will move with your cursor if you have it. Move your cursor until the question mark appears then click your mouse and the valve will stop the leak and you can escape the room.

To Gogii Games - Just a suggestion for the future – Sometimes it is hard to tell if you have an item in you inventory because the pictures at the top on the screen don’t change too much when an item enters your inventory. I have seen many questions from people that are stuck in a level because they think they have an item in their inventory but it is actually just the picture of the item waiting to be found. I see that the items intensify in color when they have been found and are in the inventory but the change is small. I know that you can click on the pictures at the top and if an item can be moved it is in the inventory. But it would be nice if perhaps the rim of the frame around the item would light up if it has been found.

It looks like the lips in the painting on level 28 are in the space marked 6. It is hard to tell the 5 from the 6 in the walkthrough picture. The 5 is the man's eye and the 6 is the woman's lips. The womans lips are on the light color wall above and to the right of the silver trash can.

It looks like you are clicking on the drawer again but you are actually clicking on the cabinet. The cabinet will unlock and you will find the video.

JUNE,
There's no way to skip over this puzle. The key is to place the cursor over the correct wire or it will not work. I can't remember off the top of my head which wire it is but I think it was a blue one. You can just place the paper clips over each wire until the right one takes.

If you look at the screenshots for level 35, The Security Room, you will see where the keys and the VHS tapes are located. It can be confusing since there are several drawers in close proximity.

Pick up the jagged piece of glass that is on the bottom left side of the floor, under the window.
Place the jagged glass onto the carpet pop-up window and the arm with the quill will be underneath it, take it.
Click on the pop-up window that is on the right side of the room and get the piece of paper that is there.
Place the piece of paper on the pop-up window at the bottom of the door.
Place the hand on the upper pop-up window of the door to reach for the key.
The key will fall to the floor, on top of the paper, pick it up.

If you look above in the walkthrough every single solution for the pictures is posted above with a screenshot. All the items are numbered.
Click on a screenshot to enlarge it and that way you can see it clearer.
The one with the swans is pictured directly under level 3.
The one with the scenery is directly above level 17.
