For general gameplay tips & tricks, click here to read Part 1 of our Build-a-lot 2 guide.
1st TOWN-MAPLE CREEK
Levels 1, 2 and 3 are all tutorial levels.
Levels 4 through 10 are not overly difficult, so we've included summaries to tell you about goals that are not presented to you at the beginning of a level. These goals sometimes show up at the last minute, just when you thought you were almost at your goal a new one appears.
LEVEL 6 Goals (1) Play Park Blueprint (2) 1 Play Park (3) +30 Appeal (4)last minute goal, raise $30,000
3RD TOWN-SPRING BROOKE
LEVEL 7
Goals (1) Townhome Blueprint (2) 4 Townhomes (3) 1 house with +10 (4) Rent $15,000
In order to get the house with a +10 rating, you must first build a Play Park and place it next to one of the painted properties you own.
LEVEL 9
Goals (1) 1 Workshop (2) 7 workers (3) Rent $17,500 (4) +30 Appeal
Construct a Play Park on the empty lots that are on the top left side.Place the park in the middle spot so that you can raise the appeal of both houses next to it
The following section is a walkthrough for levels 11 through 35. There are several ways to accomplish your goals, but this walkthrough will work for most people. Each time you start the game the layout is different. Everything doesn't have to be exact just follow the steps as closely as you can with the layouts you are given. If you do not think you can work efficiently with the layout you're given, restart the game and a new layout will appear.
4TH TOWN-WILLOWSBURGH
LEVEL 11-Walkthrough
Goals (1) 1 Recycling Center (2) 3 Three-Star Townhomes (3) +40 Appeal (4) last minute goal build 2 Play Parks
Build a Townhome, upgrade once and sell right away. It should net you $165,000.
Buy the blueprint for the Recycle Center.
Train 1 additional worker so you can build your Recycle Center.
Build your Recycle Center and then buy 5,000 materials.(If it's available, build it on the lot that is on the top right corner). Building it in an isolated spot will prevent it from bringing down the value of the houses around it.
Construct a Play park in the middle of 2 empty lots.
Construct a Townhouse next to the Play Park and give it a coat of paint right away. This will give you a rating of +10 on that Townhome.
Upgrade that house to 3 stars right away.
Buy any empty lots that become available.
When it becomes possible build a Townhouse on each side of the Park, paint and upgrade them to 3 stars each.
If the lots are not available at this time wait until they come up for sale.
Always answer your mail, it will either have money for you or some good advice.
If a Bungalow becomes available for sale put your 2 Townhomes up for sale so you can pay a lower price for that house.
Click on the small house and select Buy, then click on the low offer icon and pay less for the house.
Immediately after you buy the Bungalow take your Townhomes off the market.
Demolish that Bungalow right away and start building a Play Park in its place.
Build your last Townhome in an empty spot and upgrade to 3 stars right away.
LEVEL 12-Walkthrough
Goals (1) Build 1 Modern House (2) Own 8 houses (3) Rent 30,000 (4) Last minute goal-Paint 5 houses in a nice shade of yellow.
Construct a Townhome, upgrade to 2 stars and sell right way. It should net you $180,000.

Buy 100 materials and build a Recycle center in an isolated spot.
Once the Recycling Center is built buy 5,000 materials

In order to avoid confusion build the same type of houses in a row and then start on the next kind. For example build all your Palaces first (they will start earning you more money) then start working on the Villas etc.
Leave some spaces in between your homes so you can build some Grand Parks in order to raise your Appeal points.
Train 2 workers
Build 2 Villas do not paint or upgrade them. As soon as one is ready put it for sale.
Buy 500 materials and start building the second Villa.
Sell the second house as soon as you sell the first one.
You should be able to accumulate $1,200,000.
If a house comes up for sale as you're trying to sell yours, just press the low-ball button and that house will come off the market.
Buy 2,500 materials and train one additional worker so you can build the Recycling Center and the
Workshop at the same time.
Start building your 3 Palaces in any empty spots.
Buy small properties and demolish them as soon as you get them.
Train 12 workers and buy them Efficiency Training.
Buy 5,000 materials.
Build a Garden Center as soon as you can so you don't have to perform maintenance on your parks.
Start working on your Villas, upgrade them to 3 stars ASAP.
Buy 20 or 30 thousand materials and demolish the Recycling Center and place the Garden Center on there instead.
Landscape all your properties to bring up your Appeal value.
Start building your Modern homes at this time, upgrade to 3 stars and inspect.
Do not demolish your workshop because you need it in order for the workers to move faster.
Make sure you have all the proper requirements and you should be done soon.
LEVEL 35-Walkthrough
Goals (1) No empty lots (2) All houses with a +10 (3) Money $10,000,000 (4) Rent $500,000
This level requires a lot of speed and fast thinking to beat it.
Make sure that you are constantly buying materials and that you buy the Efficiency Training for your workers.
Train as many as 30 or 40 workers in order to achieve your goal.
Demolish all your buildings at the last minute so they don't give the neighborhood any negative appeal.
You want to build only Palaces so you can make your $10,000,000.
Let's get started:
Train 2 workers
Build 2 Villas do not paint or upgrade them. As soon as one is ready put it for sale.
Buy 5,000 materials as soon as your Recycling Center is built.
Train 15 workers and buy them Efficiency Training.
Start building your 3 Palaces in any empty spots.
Any property you buy in this level you must demolish and build a Palace instead. You must buy all properties because you need to make sure that all houses have at least a +10
Buy inexpensive properties first and buy the most expensive ones later. It will help you keep your cash when you buy the smaller properties since they don't cost as much.
Train 12 more workers so you can get more jobs done.
Pause the game for a second and look at the Appeal of your houses, make sure that everything is up to at least +10.
Buy a lot of materials (20 or 30,000) and destroy your Recycling Center. Build a Garden Center in its place.
Landscape all your properties that are at the end of your lots before you destroy all your buildings.
You must buy up all the properties.
Place some parks in between some houses in order to keep your appeal up.
Keep moving fast, it's OK to pause the game so you can look at your screen and see what you're doing. If you play the game in the windowed mode, tapping outside the box will pause the game without the menu box appearing in the center of the screen.
THE END...
Or is it?
Once you're finished with the game you will have the chance to play some bonus levels, 8 in total, one for each town.
Once you've completed all the bonus rounds you will be able to unlock the "Select a Level" mode in which you can choose to replay any level that you previously played.
You've given great tips but what about getting the bonus levels to expert?
I'm stuck on the very last bonus level and try as i might i can't get the expert one :( quite frankly it's driving me nuts :(
Any help would be great, thanks inadvance

Need Help with Maple Creek Bounus level?
Posted by: Felicia J. at April 12, 2008 09:11 PM
Hi Felicia,
Here's the solution for the Maple Creek Bonus level
MAPLE CREEK
Goals (1) Own 3 Palaces upgraded with 3 stars (2) Own 1 Garden Center (3) Landscape 3 Palaces (4) Own 1 Grand Park.
Build a Townhome and upgrade to 3 stars and sell it for $195,000.
Buy 1,000 materials, train 2 workers and build a Recycling Center in a corner lot.
Buy an empty lot as soon as you see it come up.
Buy 500 materials for $20,000 and build a Modern home in an empty lot, upgrade 2 times and sell it for $360,000.
Buy 5,000 materials, train 4 workers and build a Palace in a corner lot (You want to leave the middle empty so you can build your Grand Park), paint and upgrade that house.
Construct 2 Palaces back to back
Buy the smaller locations as they become available and demolish them. Try and get a lower offer.
Buy 5,000 materials and keep upgrading the Palaces and start building the Grand Park.
Buy the max amount of materials and destroy the Recycling Center and build the Garden Center instead.
Buy some more materials if needed, train 3 more workers and finish all your jobs. You need the extra workers so you can finish the jobs faster.
Finish painting and upgrading all your Palaces and once the Garden center is built, landscape all your Palaces.

Hi Laura and Clare,
I posted this solution over at the tips and tricks section for this game. I will post it again here for everyone to see.
BONUS ROUND- VIEW HAVEN
Goals (1) Own 14 painted bungalows (2) employ 25 workers (3) $12,000,000 in cash
GENERAL TIPS
You want to buy 6 Palaces, paint, ugrade each to 3 stars and let those houses earn you some money.
Once all 6 Palaces are built you will then start focusing on buying smaller properties, destroying them and then building your Bungalows instead.
When buying properties for sale, put your own houses up so you can pay a lesser amount for them. That way you can at least save some money while destroying more expensive houses in order to build cheaper ones.
It's important that you start upgrading to 3 stars and painting all your Bungalows so they can earn you money little by little.
LET'S GET STARTED:
Train 2 workers, build a Villa uprade 2 times and sell for $720,000. or $684,000 if there's another house up for sale. Don't waste time by waiting for a lower offer, sell right away and start working.
If you want to wait for a higher amount, the moment another house comes up for sale, take yours off the market. That way you can still accumulate around $20,000 in rental income while you wait for the other house to "unlist"
Buy 1,000 materials build a Recycling Center.
Once the Recycling Center is built, buy 5,000 materials and build a Workshop next to the Recycling Center.
Once the Workshop is completed, buy the Efficiency Training and also train an additional 9 workers.
Buy the smaller properties FIRST and destroy them (except for Bungalows you want to start on those little by little).
In the meantime you have to focus on building expensive houses (Palaces) so you can meet your money goal.
Buy 5,000 materials and build another Palace and start upgrading the first one.Keep replenishing your materials as fast as you can. Build the rest of your Palaces before you build anything else.
keep upgrading and inspecting your houses. Make sure you have 6 Palaces upgraded, painted and inspected before you start building Bungalows.
Train 9 more workers and buy a lot of materials at one time, like 20 or 30 thousand and then destroy the Recycling Center and build a Bungalow in its place.
Paint and upgrade all your Bungalows to 3 stars. Upgrading the Bungalows will bring you extra income that will help towards your goal.
As properties become available, put your own houses up for sale in order to bring the sale price down. Buy them and demolish them so you can get to your goal of 14 painted Bungalows.
Once all 12 of your Bungalows have been completed, you should have a decent amount of money from your rentals, about $8-10 million.
Each upgraded and painted Palace should net you $1,638,000. Sell as many as you need towards the end of the game in order to make your $12 million goal.
Good Luck!

Any idea when there may be a walkthrough for the rest of the bonus levels? Thanks!
Posted by: Rachel at April 19, 2008 10:15 AM
Thank you for the guide to getting expert on View Haven bonus. Upgrading the bungalows hadn't occured to me, and it really helped. Every little bit of income matters on this level.
I wanted to add that painting your palaces also helps, both with rental income and selling them. Again, every little bit helps.
Also, I build the workshop and recycling center before I build the first Villa to sell off, and that saved me a bit of money on workers and materials also.
Thanks again - thank goodness for Gamezebo and these great articles. :-)

I was waiting to see if there was a demand for a walkthrogh on the bonus levels. I am working on other things right now but I'll try to do that sometime next week.
In the meantime, tell me what bonus level you need help with and I'll write a walkthrough for you.

HI RACHEL AND LEXA
Here's the walkthrough for the Summerville Bonus Level
You need to build 1 Refinery in the spot that is on the top left side. When the Refinery is built there, it will not affect the appeal of the houses close by.
If you're not getting the layout you need, keep clicking on "restart" and each time you will have a new layout. It would be ideal if the two isolated lots on the top left side were available right away.
If both are not available, at least have one. When the spot next to it becomes available buy it immediately.
You also want to build your Recycling Center and Workshop in that corner. Later on you will demolish the Recycling Center and build the Refinery in its spot.
You need to build 1 Grand Park in a middle spot. You need the spots on each side to be empty so you can get your Appeal points up.
A Palace that has been painted and upgraded 3 times next to a grand Park will sell for $1,950,000 as opposed to a the same house that is not next to a Grand Park will sell for $1,638,000.
Goals (1)1 Refinery (2)$5,000,000 (3)+30 Appeal
Let's Get Started
Build a Townhome, upgrade once and sell it right away for $165,000.
Train 2 workers and build a recycling center, in the top left corner.
Buy 100 materials and Build a Modern House, do not upgrade it, just sell it for $300,000.
Buy 1,000 materials and build a Workshop
If the property next to the Recycling Center becomes available buy it right away and build a Workshop next to it.
Start buying small properties, let them earn you a little bit of rent before you demolish them. Most properties are inexpensive in the round so you should have enough money to buy what you need.
Train 2 more workers, and build another Modern sell right away without upgrading and sell it for $300,000.
Train 6 more workers and buy the maximum amount of materials and start building Palaces in corner lots. Also get Efficiency Training for your workers.
Start demolishing your smaller properties, (do not repair them) and build some Palaces instead.
Upgrade, paint and inspect the Palaces ASAP.
In the meantime buy any inexpensive places that come up for sale so you can demolish them and build bigger houses instead.
Buy a lot of materials at one time and then demolish the Recycling Center. Build the Refinery in its place instead.
At this time you should own every property on the lot so you will not have to worry about getting a low offer on your house since you own all of them.
You should have at Least 1 Grand Park (with a Palace on each side) and 3 other Palaces and a Modern Home. All Upgraded to 3 stars and painted.
As soon as the Refinery is finished make sure that you collect the checks right away so you can get the next check as quickly as possible.
Once you're done building the Refinery, you can start selling some of your Palaces, not the ones next to the Grand Park, just the ones below.
You'll get $1,638,000 for each house. At that point you should only have to sell 2 of them to get to the $5,000,000 goal.
THE END

HI RUTH,
Here's the bonus level for Willowsburgh.
Please look at the screenshot by clicking on this link
You want to BUILD and OWN only Palaces in this level. ALL your Palaces need to be painted and upgraded 3 times.
Inspect ALL your Palaces after the 3 stars. You do not want to take the time to repair them.
You have to buy EVERY property that is available. Start with small properties and buy the larger ones once you accumulate some more cash.
You must "low-ball" every property that you buy by putting up 4 of your houses up for sale and then taking them off the market once the sale is completed. (Of course you can only do that once you own your first 4 houses)
You need to demolish your Workshop LAST.
Little by little train some workers so that at the end you have 28 workers total. You can train more if you want but 28 is enough.
Train 2 workers and build a Villa, upgrade once and sell right away for $660,000 or $627,000 (it depends if a house comes up for sale or not).
Buy 1,000 materials and build a Recycling Center. If the spot is available place it in the middle row, last 2 spots on the right.
If the property next to the Recycling Center is available, build the Workshop there. If it's not available, buy it as soon as it comes up and build the Workshop.
Buy the maximum amount of materials and build a Workshop next to the Recycling Center.
As soon as the workshop is finished, give your workers Efficiency Training and train 6 more workers.
As the Workshop is being built, buy some smaller properties that become available.
Start building Palaces, paint and upgrade ALL your Palaces to 3 stars and inspect them as soon as you can.
Train a lot of workers at once, you want to have a total of 28 workers by the end of the game so that you can demolish 3 Palaces at a time.
You have to buy every property available in order to accomplish this goal.
You have to be super fast in order to get the expert score in this level. Stay constantly busy, buying, demolishing and building only Palaces.
Constantly buy the maximum amount of materials.
As houses come up for sale you want to "low-ball" their offers. Put 4 of your own houses up for sale so that your "low-ball" offer will be accepted.
Make sure that immediately after your offer has been accepted that you "unlist" your house really fast. Houses that are up for sale do not earn income
As soon as you see that your money is close to 5 million dollars, start demolishing 3 properties at a time.
This is very important, you want to demolish your Workshop last. The reason for that is that if you destroy it too quickly your workers will work slower since they will no longer have their Efficiency Training.
Clear all 12 lots and you're done.
THE END

This may be a silly question, but how do you do the Efficiency Training?
Posted by: AJ at April 24, 2008 03:27 PM
Hi Aj,
In order to do the Efficiency Training you must build a Workshop. Once the Workshop is completed you have to click on it and you will see 2 buttons at the bottom of the screen
(Demolish and Efficiency Training).
Click on the Efficiency Training tab and all your workers will get things done a lot faster than usual. If you destroy the Workshop the Efficiency Training will be voided and your workers will return to their normal speed.
Efficiency Training costs $75,000.

Help! I'm on level 35. I own every lot. I have 15 million dollars and over $700,000 in rent. Every house has a +10 or higher and there is a lot on every house except one. I have a park there so the houses on either side will get over the +10 mark but I can't win the level! It keeps telling me I have one spot without a +10...
How the hell can I get a +10 if I don't put a park there?!?!
Posted by: Lola at April 25, 2008 02:00 PM
Lola,
In order to get a +10 you have to build a Garden Center. Once you've built the garden center, landscape all the houses.Landscaping houses adds a +5 to every house.
Before you demolish your garden center make sure that all the houses in the corners are landscaped. Even when you demolish the garden center, your houses will maintain the +10 appeal.
Since you have to demolish the garden center make sure you build it next to a park because once you demolish it you cannot landscape any more houses.
Then just build your last house next to the park and you will have your last +10.
Look at the screenshot for that level and see if that helps as well.
I hope I understood your problem correctly. If that's not it write me again and I will help you.
Best of Luck,
Margie B

Excellent guide! Very helpful. Is there a bonus building or something if you get a gold star on all levels (including the bonus levels) like they had in the first one? I got a gold star on all except the last level, then I got a gold on all the bonus, and went back to the last level, so I'm not sure if I missed something or if they just omitted it from this game.
Thanks!
Posted by: Adam at May 2, 2008 02:31 AM
Hi Adam!Thanks
You do not get a secret building for getting all experts like they did in the original version. You just have the 8 bonus levels that you get to play at the end of the game.
You did not miss anything, you got it all! :-)

I was curious, how do you landscape and inspect in casual play mode. I haven't finished all the campaigns yet, so I was wondering if you have to do that first to unlock it. Even if I build a Garden Center and such, it still won't let me landscape in casual, I can only do it in campaign mode. Just wondering.

I found this site when I got stuck on level 19. I followed your walk through to the letter until the last line of buy a small property to build a coffee shop. I hadn't been told yet that I had to build one, but I was going to build it anyway. Here's the weird thing, I bought the modern house I has sold at the beginning of the level to bump up my rental value that much more and since the last minute goal of build a coffee shop hadn't been said yet I had completed all the currently stated goals and passed the level! Do the last minute goals only pop up at a certain TIME point? If so, if you're quick enough you might not have to do them at all.

What kind of help do you need in the last round, could you be more specific?
SANDI,
For what level are you referring to?
Margie B
Posted by: Margie B at May 4, 2008 06:19 PM
Hi Melinda,
That's strange because last minute goals usually show up just when you're about to complete the stated goals. Maybe it does show up at a predetermined time, I'm not sure.
That's the first time I ever heard of that one. You're just that good!!
That's my explanation :-)
I would like to hear if that's ever happened to anybody else.

The computer that had Build-a-lot 2 died on me and I had to get a new hard drive so all my progress has been erased. I will have to replay the entire game in order to get the answers.
I have some other projects that I have to finish so I will not be able to get to it until sometime next week.
In the meantime...If you guys can tell what the goals are for those bonus levels then I may be able to figure it out in my head and give you guys enough steps to get you through.

Are those all the goals, including a last minute goal? Is the plus 5 on the neighborhood as a whole or on each house? Could you write down the goals exactly as they appear.
Thanks
