Following up on yesterday's breaking news that Big Fish Games was down due to a server fire, parts of the site are now coming back online. The Download Games and Online Games sections of the site are back up, but the Games Community and Forums sections still appear to be down.  Faunasphere (still in beta, Big Fish's casual virtual world) is also back up.

 

EDIT July 4 3:19 pm PST - It looks like the forums are back up. We're still unable to access the Community Games section.

Big Fish Games has been down all morning due to a fire that broke out at Fisher Plaza, the largest data center in Seattle. Posting on GameBoomers.com, Big Fish Games Founder Paul Thelen said that power was out to the whole building and urged fans to be patient.

 

"The building is under several feet of water and they will not tell us when it will restore power," Thelen said. "We are in process of transferring all our data to our backup datacenter, but that is a 12 to 18 hour process as we have thousands of servers and massive databases of info to transfer.

 

"Fisher plaza is the hosting facility for hundreds of companies, so this is a major Internet disruption."

After ten years AOL has ended its relationship with EA's Pogo, meaning that players can no longer play Pogo games on AOL's website. Also, AOL has merged its two online game services, AOL Games and Games.com, into a single portal at Games.com. Read more»

Fans of Pogo's Fairy Godmother Tycoon have been eagerly awaiting a sequel, but it looks like they'll have to wait a little longer - that is, if the project is still a "go" at all. Pogo fan site BadgeHungry.com is reporting that all references to the anticipated Fairy Godmother sequel - which has been called Fairy Godmother Tycoon Premium and Fairy Godmother Tycoon Unlocked - have been removed from Pogo's testing servers.
