Beta tested game & loved it. Bought game from BFG only to get this error repeatedly: "Access Violation 0x0056245B (tried to read from 0x00000068) program terminated". OK, have latest Nvidia drivers, DirectX, etc. Did registry clean, check, etc. BFG customer service sent response, did what they suggested. Game still will not run due to this "access violation" error message. So if Beta version ran smoothly, why not now? Please please someone help me. Thanks!!!!!
Go to the Big Fish Forum for this game. Find the topic that starts out, "Hi I cannot play Puppet Show." This person was having the same problem. The Big Fish moderator answered and explained how to remove old save files if you did the beta test.
I had the exact same error message. I just finished answering an email to BF. They sent me a file called Dr. Felix that you download and it gathers all this information for them and then you send that back to them.
I tried what the fish moderator said to do and it didn't work for me. I hope someone else will have better luck.
I'm not having problems with their site, because since then I have bought two credits and one game and one of their $2.99 games.
PuppetShow: Mystery of Joyville is guaranteed to bring spookiness even to the brightest, warmest household.
The adventure begins as a nameless detective arrives in Joyville,
a derelict town counting the days until it becomes a ghost town.
Greeted by the scary-looking hotel proprietor and his lovely
daughter, our nameless detective soon learns that something is amiss.
The owner's grandson has been missing for two days, the latest in
a long string of disappearances that have baffled the police and
guaranteed that no one in town will venture out after dark. It is up to
you, intrepid casual gamer that you are, to solve the mystery and
rescue the grandson before... well, that would be telling, wouldn't it?
Wander the town, break into buildings, find lots of hidden objects, and
figure out who is behind the mystery of Joyville.
Love it!!!!
For nance9194 and doglekim........If you still don't have Puppet Show yet, here is what BF CS told me to do today and it worked:
1)First, we will need to identify the folder that needs to be deleted. To get started select the 'My Computer" icon on your desktop.
2) Then, navigate to the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\ERS G-Studio
and locate the "save" folder. (User name will be the name you use on your computer, so mine would be C:\Documents and Settings\Diana\Application Data\ERS G-Studio)
Don't see that folder? It's likely that it is just hidden. To get this folder to show up, just do the following:
a) From the menu at the top go to Tools-Folder Options
b) From the 'View' tab make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected and then click 'OK' to exit the window.
3) When you've found the "Puppet Show" folder either delete this folder or drag and drop it onto your Recycle Bin for removal.
Once that's done, the game should install normally from your online Purchase History.
Here's the direct link to where you can sign into that page:
Good luck you guys. I had to sorta fish around to find the folder and was just sure that the folder was the game I installed with the error message that I deleted, but it had to be the beta version of the game. I did not have to redownload the game. Just went to "Play My Games" and the game started after I clicked on it.
Sure hope this will work for you two......the game graphics are beautiful.
Is it just me or is the game slooooow in moving from one scene to the next? My mouse also freezes till the found object is gone. Just for a second, but still annoying. And it's such a great game.
