Stuck at Mount Drake Caves

I'm stuck at MDC. Can't find way to that "dragon kingdom" Help!

Im not sure the map helps a lot. I stumbled into the dragon town, but then went out the other side and no way was I finding my way back out, so I used my compass to get back to the ship, because I had found the things I needed.  (one thing didnt seem to be where it says it is on the map)
