Music games are always at their best when they’re married to a catchy soundtrack and a unique visual presentation. With this in mind, Taito realized they had the perfect person to tackle their first major iOS rhythm title: Reisuke Ishida. Previously responsible for the trippy, challenging, and delightfully retro Space Invaders Infinity Gene, Ishida seemed like the kind of guy who might have the perfect vision for a rhythm game built from the ground-up for the touch screen. As it turns out, they couldn’t have been more right.

When TAITO, the publisher behind the amazing reimagining Space Invaders Infinity Gene released Bubble Bobble Double, our hearts were instantly aflutter. All the screens made it look like this could be a brand new experience that rivalled that of their earlier Space Invaders success. Looks, however, can be deceiving.

The always cheerful Mama has traded in her spatula for a trowel in Gardening Mama, the latest game in Taito’s series of themed mini-game collections. It maintains the same formula that made the Cooking Mama games so popular, creating an experience that’ll be very familiar to anyone who has played those games in the past. But it’s still fun and charming, and a game that’s almost perfectly suited for the iPhone’s touch screen.

When you hear the term "Mikado", you probably assume that the conversation has veered onto the topic of Gilbert & Sullivan musicals. However, what many people don't realize is that the word is actually an old term used for the Emperor of Japan that eventually fell out of style. Mikado Defenders, a new tower defense game out for the iPhone this week, has nothing to do with the former topic and much more to deal with the latter.
