Hamburg, Germany-based MMORPG publisher gamigo, one of the leading publisher of free-to-play MMORPGs in Europe, has entered the world of social media games with the launch of Jade Tales for Facebook.

Jade Tales is a fantasy role-playing game developed by Craft that whisks players away to a hidden world in which the village of the Amazons must be protected from Viking invaders. To protect their home, as well as to earn gold and experience points, there are daily quests for players to complete. Players can log in to the game easily via their Facebook account and connect with friends to watch their progress, send them gifts, or challenge them to a duel. They can also band together with friends to go into battle against evil.

“With more than 6.7 million users in Germany alone, Facebook is of course also extremely important for the gaming industry,” said Patrick Streppel, a member of gamigo’s executive board, in a prepared statement. “Naturally, it is only logical for gamigo, as one of the most successful gaming brands in Europe, to enter the realm of social media networks. The first step has been made successfully with Jade Tales; more games will follow in the near future.”

gamigo also recently announced plants to enter North America later this year by opening its first foreign office in New York City in the second quarter of 2010. Sreppel said that the company plans to present new products designed for global publication at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference.

Founded in 2000, gamigo has published numerous free-to-play MMORPGs including Fiesta, Smash Online, Slapshot and Neo Steam.
