Ayopa Games announce unique new bullet-hell shooter called Don’t Shoot Yourself!

Don’t shoot yourself. You would think that such a simple piece of advice like that would more or less already be ingrained in the brains of everyone capable of even reading it, but when it comes to the latest puzzle arcade shooter from Ayopa Games and developer Silverware Games, those three simple words are the means by which you’ll succeed or fail in a flurry of gunfire.

Because the primary enemies in Don’t Shoot Yourself! are actually your ship’s own bullets. There are 100 of them, in fact, in each level, and you’ll need to constantly avoid the continuous barrage of bullets until all 100 have been fired, and then a final magic blue bullet is released which blows open the physical constraints of the current stage and allows you to fly merrily on your way, your ship hull intact.

The biggest part of the gameplay in Don’t Shoot Yourself! revolves around the walls themselves in each of the game’s 50 themed levels, as different wall types and surfaces will cause your bullets to ricochet back at you using different kinds of physics. A sleek minimalist design permeates the entire adventure, and quick thinking is a must if you want to make it to see the challenging boss levels, or stake your claim in the infinite survival mode.

But above all else, the game is just really going to teach everyone a simple life lesson: don’t shoot yourself. Seriously, just don’t do it. There are too many video game enemies out there in the world for you to just be taken out by a little self-friendly fire. Don’t Shoot Yourself! is currently slated for an iOS release on November 13, 2013.
