Sorry fans of the Call of Duty series who don’t live in China, but it looks Activision and Tencent have teamed up to a create a new free-to-play first-person shooter for mobile devices.

Can you tell me about the game?

Yes, I can confirm that although gameplay will seek to bring a new experience to mobile gaming, some content will be brought in from the Call of Duty franchise. So expect to see your favourite characters, maps, weapons and game modes to make an appearance in this mobile game.

Tencent’s mobile studio is spearheading the development, so you know the Call of Duty name is in safe hands.

Call of Duty

Rob Kostich, the executive vice president of Call of Duty said: “We’re working closely with one of Tencent’s top mobile studios, Timi, to develop a fun and original Call of Duty experience that delivers superb gameplay and mechanics to mobile players.”

Although there is no mention of the game making its way over to the European or US market, I wouldn’t rule that out just yet. Depending on the success of this collaboration, we could see a new COD mobile title sooner than we think.

No exact release date has been mentioned, but the title is scheduled to launch in the coming months. As always, we will keep you posted.
