Community Policy & Forum Netiquette Rules

Our goal is to make Gamezebo your home and community for casual games on the Internet.

Like all good homes, we have our own set of housekeeping rules to ensure your experience on Gamezebo is pleasant and enjoyable.

Our Community Policy & Forum Netiquette Rules can be summed up by the wise words of the Ancient sage Hillel:

“Do not do to others what you would not have them do to you.”

For those of you who like more details, please find below our Community Policy & Forum Netiquette Rules.

Community Policy Rules

1. Always treat others on Gamezebo with respect.  Do not insult, belittle, or call others hurtful names. See the wise words of Hillel above.

2. Do not engage in personal attacks or hate speech of any kind.

3. Do not use any curse words or bad language.  Fortunately, Gamezebo has a language filter that keeps our site and forums clean and safe, but help us keep it that way by doing your part.  A rule of thumb:  if it's a word you would not say to your mother, it's not an appropriate word to use on Gamezebo.

4. No spam!  Repeat, do not spam or openly solicit users with any third-party offers.

5. Do not post links to any games or content that has been obtained illegally.  Do not discuss, request, or trade free game codes.  At Gamezebo, we strive to create an environment that is supportive of game developers.  And, besides, it's the law.

6. We encourage game companies to visit and discuss your games on Gamezebo.  But, we request you do not spam, openly solicit, provide links to your Web site, and/or encourage users to sign up to your Web site or services, including your own beta test programs.  We want to encourage as much communication between game players and companies on Gamezebo, but our rules on spam apply to everyone.

7. Nothing is more exciting (well, for us, anyway) then when you find a new casual game coming out soon in preview or in beta.  For that reason, we have created a Beta Test Section of our Forums for you to announce news of any upcoming casual game you learn about to share with our community.  Please announce all new game or beta announcements within our Beta Test Section only.  Do not include any external links to any beta game or programs and please refrain from writing reviews of beta games.  Remember, games are still in beta for a reason and it is not fair to the game developer to review an incomplete version of a game.   Once the game is released as a final version and no longer in beta, we encourage you to review game on Gamezebo.

8. Do not post information you consider to be private (e.g., email address, home address, phone number) on Gamezebo if you desire to maintain the privacy of that information.  Whenever you voluntarily post public information anywhere on Gamezebo, people can access that information and in turn could use that information to send you unsolicited communications.

9. Do not give out your user name or password information to anyone that requests the information.  Gamezebo staff will never ask you for your password information.

10. Do not impersonate Gamezebo staff.  Though it's flattering, it can make it confusing for other users.  You can tell if you are talking to Gamezebo staff if the message balloon is a beautiful beige tint. If you have any issues or concerns with any other Gamezebo member, contact a moderator and/or Gamezebo staff.   Please do not take matters into your own hands.  We promise to be fair and just in our moderation and judgment.

11. Do not upload or post any screen shots directly in our forum as this may make our site more difficult to navigate and view.  You can link to third party Web sites (e.g., sites that host your images) as long as you abide by our Terms of Services.  Do not link to any Web sites that contain offensive illegal, or “spam-like” content.  For a full list of “do's” and “do not's” for linking, review our Terms of Services.

12. For now, English is the official language of Gamezebo so please communicate in English.  We respect everyone who visits and participates on Gamezebo, no matter what your native language is.  But, the only way we can manage our forum and ensure our guidelines are followed is if we can understand what you are saying.  Gamezebo staff may delete posts not written in English at our own discretion.  Well-known salutations or phrases in other languages (e.g., Guten Tag, Hola!, Au Revoir) are allowed but again, it's at our discretion.   One day, technology permitting, we will change our language policy (but that day is not today).

13. Have fun.   Gamezebo is your home and community for casual games are fun.  The only thing more fun than playing casual games is discussing, helping others, and sharing your interest about casual games on Gamezebo!

Forum Netiquette Rules

1. When you create a topic, please make your subject line specific in order to encourage a fast response by members of our community.  Do not create a topic with the name or game or the simple line, “Help.”  Instead, create specific topics such as “I can't find the last key in the maze in Chapter 18.”  The more specific you are, the faster and better response you may have.

2.  Please do not use ALL CAP's in your forum posts.  ALL CAP's is considered shouting.

3.  We encourage you to check the forum to see if your question has already been answered.  For your convenience, we strive to organize all games-specific forum posts together and have added a Forum Search box on our Forum page to help you find answers to any question you may have.

4.  Help us keep Gamezebo a safe and fun place to make friends and discuss casual games.  When you see spam or inappropriate content on our Web site, click on the “Report Inappropriate Content” link next to the item.  This will notify us and help us remove the inappropriate content from the Web site.

5.  Please do not post back-to-back replies (or “bump”) excessively.  We all know that mistakes do happen where you may post the same reply twice in-a-row or you may post a message and then realize that you forgot to mention something.  Our goal is to create a forum environment that is easy to navigate and simple to manage.  When possible, please use our handy-dandy “edit” feature that lets you edit any forum reply (not topic) or user review you post on the site.

6.  Gamezebo believes in freedom of speech and strives to create an open environment to discuss any casual game, connect and make friends with like-minded individuals, and to have fun online.  Please do not forget that Gamezebo is a web site devoted to casual games.  Please refrain from sharing detailed information about your political views, personal life or medical conditions that others may find uncomfortable.  Of course, it's subjective; but if it's T.M.I. (“too much information”) in the offline world, it's TMI on Gamezebo.

7.  Be nice to new people.  We were all new to Gamezebo once.  When you see someone new, please refer the person to our rules, help them out, and send them a “Welcome to Gamezebo” Kudo.

8.  Be Nice to everyone.  In the words of Mark Twain, “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

Please abide by all Community Policy & Forum Netiquette Rules, as well as our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy that you agreed to when you sign up as a member to Gamezebo.
