<< Go BackTopic: problems with Real Arcade

Jutta, sorry to hear about that Spybot.worm thing. i have never experienced any problems with RA. Best contact their customer service, they will be interested in this. The name sounded familiar, but that is because there is an antivirus program named Spybot.
Ralph, I´m experiencing the same with www.realarcade.com. Maybe this happens because we´re from Europe. I´d like to hear a comment of an American user.

jutta, i assume from your post that you're using Norton? i just Googled and looked at Symantec's (Norton's parent company) information. it may be a false/positive because something innocent may look similar to a real threat.
the information is from 2007, by the way, and is related to Kazaa file-sharing and mIRC, an instant messaging type program.
i haven't used Norton in years, and only got rid of McAfee 4 weeks ago, because of too many false/positives (among other issues). it's possible it's actually nothing at all but a false/positive alert, especially if you've never used Kazaa or mIRC.
my issues with McAfee were so annoying and frustrating (it kept deleting a game executable, saying it was a trojan, when it wasn't) that i abandonded it with 3 months left on my subscription.
i purchased Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and haven't had a single false/positive. and that game McAfee wouldn't let me play? it runs perfectly.
there are some system/browser slowness issues with KIS 2010, but their people are actively working on it and should have a fix any day now. it's such a powerful & great security suite that i feel safe without having to any other type of anti-spyware/anti-malware program.
i have other issues with RA; their browser plugin isn't compatible with my browser (Mozilla's Firefox; i don't use Internet Explorer) so i had to cancel my subscription after 2 weeks because i couldn't play the one game i purchased.
i found that some anti-virus programs (Norton & McAfee, for sure) won't let you configure things well enough so you can ignore that, if it is truly a false/positive. not sure how much help Norton's customer service will be; McAfee's is awful. Kaspersky's is really amazing & they have an incredible forum to help you, also.
it could be "something," but it very well may be nothing at all. contact Norton before you do anything else to see if they can/will help.

@ origami-saN, my apologies for referring to you (in another post) as origami-sa. i didn't realize i had to click on your "name" to get your correct one until someone called me cakefordini, when it's actually cakefordinner. LOL
i guess i never looked and noticed one's name gets cut off if it's a few characters too long.
oh, and jutta & origami-san, i'm an american if that information helps at all.

sorry, thought of one more thing. i based my decision to go with Kaspersky after looking at security suite reviews, here:
http://internet-security-suite-review.toptenreviews.com/ (i still can't get that "link" button to work for me, so i promise never to post a garbage link)
i tried the trial versions of #1 BitDefender and found it too clumsy, #2 ZoneAlarm Extreme and found it had so many issues i couldn't even get online, then i tried #3 Kaspersky & really liked all its features, ease of use and complete configurability.

Never mind that, Cakefordinner, it is easily done. Now that we are acquainted with each other, Origami will be enough. LOL
Thanks for the updates on the virus programs. I´m using Norton with Vista and McAfee with XP, no problems.
Well, the linking business... Try this: Copy the URL of the site you want to link out of the browser addres line. Highlight the word(s) in the text you want to lay the link under. Then click on the chain/link symbol above this text box. Another box opens. Paste the URL into the "link URL" line. Choose "open link in a new window" option. You can leave "Title" empty. Click insert. Done.
Good luck!

Wow I thought it was just me! I have McAfee. It was reporting everytime I tried to play a game or download a game from RA that I had a artemis trojan. RA and McAfee both sent me around in circles until I got a very to me complex set up of instructions. I chalked it up to a lesson learned.

Well, when I go to www.realarcade.com, I get an Error Report. About Apache Tomcat/6.0.16. It says: the server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
But when I go to www.realarcade.com/download, it works perfectly. Help?
