Good idea Rags.
I live in southern NM, in the Chihuahuan Desert region. Yearly rainfall average is 11.5 inches, very little snow. Lots of sun and dry air.

I will start this forum then..
I live in the UK know as the East Midlands the centre infact of England..
We are a small island surrounded by water I am about 100 mlies from the nearest coast....
I live on the outskirts of a semi rural village surrounded by open country side.. The nearest town is about 5 miles away.. the village has a couple of stores a general store and a newsagents.. and a post office .. We have a lovely Norman built church
Until the 1980's this village as many others around here was the heart of the coal mining industry..
Most of the work was at the mines but these were all closed down leaving a vast unemployment this has never altered.. Now they have made a nature reserve and trails on the old site
Now people that work commut to the nearest city about 20 miles away or use the motorway to the north and south....
We have lovely country side which attracts many visitors..
EHAM 2 miles away was where the black plague began which nearly wiped out the whole population ..
We have 4 stately homes within a few miles from here to the north
and the other way we have Sherwood Forest the home of Robin Hood
and his Merry Men and not far away the Sheffiff of Nottingham..
We are about 45 minutes from East Midlands Airport ..
We are very high up here so get some very bad weather at times..
I have always lived in and around this area and would find it hard to leave now ....

I live in a little rural town, literally a one-stoplight town. It lies halfway between Portland, OR in the USA, and the Oregon Coast. It has a grocery store, a pizza place, a couple of gas stations, a few churches, a dance studio, a couple cafes, schools, and a housing development. It's surrounded by farms and vineyards.
Oregone is a very pretty state in the Pacific Northwest. We have high desert areas, snowy mountains, windy gorges, volcanoes, beaches, valleys--a little bit of everything. I live in the Willamette Valley. It is very rainy here, and usually we have mild temperatures. The exception is August, which is when we get our 90's and 100's degrees F weather. We get little snow in the Valley, but get a ton of rain and wind storms in the winter. Our surrounding geography is so varied, it's very hard to predict the weather, so we dress in layers and go with the flow. We are famous for our trees (among other things).
Some pictures (there are a few family photos first, you can skip those and get to some very nice pics of Oregon)

I'm kind of sleepy, forgive my typo, please. -
I live in Northern Michigan in the Lower Penninsula... If you hold up your hand, fingers together and thumb to the right, I live at the first knuckle of your pointer finger (closest to the tip) ~ and, yes, Michiganders (and even Michigeese) do use our hands as a map... it's perfect as our state is shaped like a mitten...
I live and work on the "Sunrise Side" of Lake Huron (across the street from the lake) ~ so I get a daily "present" as I watch the sun rise over the water.
(there is much much more I can say about my home, but it'll have to wait until later when I'm feeling well enough to stay on line to post more...)

Thought it might be of some interest if we each said a little
about the place where we live coming from many different places..
Great idea Rags :-) Would be nice if we could include links to pictures, too. I realise we're not supposed to divulge personal information, but something fairly general should be OK.
We live in the NE of Scotland, in an area known as Royal Deeside, due to our proximity to the Royal households, at Balmoral and Birkhall. Balmoral Castle is probably well known throughout the world, but Birkhall perhaps less so. Birkhall was the home of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother until her death, and is now the Scottish home of The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, who are better known outside Scotland as Prince Charles and (Camilla) The Duchess of Cornwall.
This is a beautiful part of the world, our village being surrounded by hills and mountains, this being the Scottish Highlands. We are within the Cairngorms National Park.
