Antivirus 2009 is a real nasty. I've gotten the 2008 one before, and it takes over your system and disables your registry editor (regedit). For me, I couldn't keep folders opened because they would end up closing automatically after like 5 seconds. This is a good guide to remove Antivirus 2008 and 2009.

Thanks timebomb what browser do you use? I use firefox. I read there was a virus going around and they said don't use IE.

I use Firefox as well. I don't see anything about a virus going around for IE users, but it's best to not take any chances and be protected as best as possible because there's a lot of nasties out there.

Thank you. I have a good virus protection and firewall program but I know they can't possibly catch all the stuff as it pops up quickly.

Is not being able to open files the only symptom? I'm not having trouble but I saved your linked page just in case. I thought it was probably an IE security problem nothing new there

I'm sure you'll know when you get Antivirus 2008 or 2009, as you will see the program open up, in addition to a bunch of ads and false results it shows from its scan.

Thanks a lot EIEIO for ur info, I don't install any antivirus on my computer, I never had problems, I know that I have viruses that are hiding on my computer and maybe they made a family on it lol, but I don't care, haha

As most of you are aware my computer crashed due to a virus. I just got through talking to McAfee and they said that Anti-Virus 2009 is one of the worse viruses that are out. It piggy backs itself onto different sites and is almost impossible to get off of your computer. The tech staff could have removed it but by the time I went into McAfee my puter was slowly dying right before my eyes. They did give me a year free which I thought was nice of them even though I still think they should have caught. He did explain that it hit so fast they didn't have the anti-virus program for it set up but they do now.
It also hit the free Photo Bucket accounts. If you went in to the free Photo Bucket you could get hit.
Just wanted to give you a heads up.
