Hi Amm.. good idea starting this Thread..
Sounds great to go to N.Zealand for the Christmas Holidays... thanks for sharing!!
I guess my story is the opposite..
Here where I live some people go on Holidays for Xmas.. but I've never been during Xmas time...
We normally stay home and have family over for a big dinner with stuffed Turkey or we're going to visit our family having the same dinner overthere. We're also having a Xmas tree with all kind of little things and lights..
Most of the time it's a family happening... that's quite different from you overthere... But maybe an idea to go for a Holiday sometimes as well at Xmas!!!
Happy holidays for you!!
EDIT: Hi Brandasoma... great.. we've nearly the same story but I forgot the presents ofcourse....and we're singing Dutch Christmas carols...LOL..

I'm half Danish and we

I'm half Danish and we always celebrate christmas the 24th of december. We start with dinner of turkey (the Danes also have duck or a roast), brown potatoes (warmed in melted sugar and butter), normal potatoes, red cabbage and sidedishes with typically danish graeskar. The dessert is always rice-pudding with almonds. One whole almond and whoever gets it gets an extra present (the children always miraculously got a whole almond). After dishes we sit or walk around the tree singing danish christmas carols. Then we open the presents.
