Plants vs Zombies Preview
Usually the biggest threat to a healthy lawn come in the form of bugs, or maybe a cat who's decided to use it as her personal litter box. Plants vs. Zombies ups the ante, though, as you'll have to don your gardening gloves to repel dozens of shuffling undead on a quest for brains. PopCap's upcoming tower defense game is scheduled to launch on May 5, but in the meantime continue reading for a sneak peek.
Wizard's Pen Review
One of the biggest gripes I have as a game reviewer who follows the casual space closely is the lack of ingenuity. That is, once there's a breakthrough game type - such as match-three, time management or hidden object puzzles - along come 101 clones that do very little to push the genre forward. Sure there's such thing as a well-made copycat, but critics like me smile ear to ear when a developer dares to try something different.
Such is the case with PopCap's Wizard's Pen, a highly entertaining puzzle game that puts a unique spin on the hidden object genre.
Mystery P.I. - The Vegas Heist Review
When hidden object game developers tackle a sequel, they attempt torecreate the experience of the original while adding new twists. Notmuch thought goes into creating scenes and sprinkling objects around,so with hidden object games the hard part comes in spinning anintriguing story and features that keep players hunting. Unfortunately,Mystery P.I. - The Vegas Heist does the opposite of what most would expect in a sequel to Mystery P.I.: The Lottery Winner.
Amazing Adventures The Lost Tomb Review
One of the first things that comes to mind when thinking about ancient Egypt (after mummies) is treasure. After death, wealthy pharaohs were laid to rest inside massive tombs with gold, jewelry and other valuables, the vault then sealed tight. Over the years, of course, many tombs fell victim to looters and were picked clean of their artefacts. In Amazing Adventures The Lost Tomb, the latest hidden object game from SpinTop and PopCap, there's still one tomb out there that's unspoiled and waiting to be discovered.
