What's New in Gamezebo
Merscom's Shutter Island, which is set to launch later this week on major portals, is a hidden object game based on the Dennis Lehane novel and upcoming film.
U.S. Marshall Teddy Dennis and his partner Chuck Aule arrive at Shutter Island, which is home to the Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, as a hurricane bears down on them. The pair are there to track down an escaped patient, the convincted murderer Rachel Solando. But disappearing patients isn't the only secret that the island hides, and nothing at Ashcliffe Hospital is what it seems.

The noir genre of film and literature is packed full of great, famous hard-boiled detective characters, not one of whom I can actually name. My tastes run more toward guys like Tracer Bullet and Flint Paper, private dicks who somehow manage to perfectly skewer the genre by doing nothing but remaining unerringly true to it. For awhile, it looked like Nick Chase would take his place among that esteemed company, but when all was said and done there wasn't quite enough gum on his shoes to put him over the top.

When it comes to aquarium games on Facebook,
Happy Aquarium is easily the biggest fish in the sea. With more than 28 million players every month as of this writing, it's not only the most popular aquarium game - it's the 5
thmost popular app on Facebook. And yet despite these massive numbers, once you get ankle deep in tank water you can't help but wonder why anyone would find this relatively shallow offering so appealing.
Happy Aquarium may be the biggest fish in the sea, but it spreads itself too thin to be considered the best.

"Sometimes, you just can't go back." That's the general feeling when starting up
Nancy Drew: Treasure in the Royal Tower. Released way back in November of 2000, it's easy to see how developer Her Interactive learned to hone their Nancy Drew titles to both a science and art. This one is full of missteps, but only because we have over ten years and 17 games as perspective.

The first thing you need to know about Playrix (in case you don't already) is that we have become successful primarily by creating match-3 games. Nevertheless, we took a look at
The Settlers,
Blue Byte's long-running series, and felt inspired. We thought: "Why not? Let's create our own version of a fun, casual strategy game." When the idea first struck us, we could not have imagined that it would take us more than 16 months of development and seven revisions of the game mechanics to arrive at what we have today. But not for a single day have we regretted taking on this wonderful project.

What seems like an unexpectedly low rating at first glance turns out to be more than appropriate for

Perhaps naively, I always thought that monkeys were just monkeys. Apparently, I was wrong. Like the bizarre love child of King Kong and The Count from Sesame Street, there's a new "Dracula Monkey" on the beat, and he's dead set on starving the rest of the monkey population of their beloved bananas. In one of the most outlandish plots you'll ever see,

"Embedded in the mud, glistening green and gold and black, was a butterfly, very beautiful, and very dead. It fell to the floor, an exquisite thing, a small thing that could upset balances and knock down a line of small dominoes and then big dominoes and then gigantic dominoes, all down the years across Time. Eckels' mind whirled. It couldn't change things. Killing one butterfly couldn't be that important. Could it?"
So wrote Ray Bradbury in the classic short story "A Sound of Thunder," the roundabout inspiration for
The Clumsys 2: The Butterfly Effect, the second game based on the adventures of the time-traveling Albert Clumsy and his family.

Stop me if you've heard any of this before. Some children have gone missing. Their mother rushes off to find them. She happens to be an intrepid explorer-type. Her search takes her into the heart of a South American jungle where she must investigate an ancient temple. Although the premise of
Joan Jade and the Gates of Xibalba is interchangeable with dozens of other hidden object/adventure games, and its gameplay is thoroughly average, it's at least easy on the eye and boasts some clever (if repetitive) puzzles.

Since going live in 2008, GOG.com has become the go-to portal for downloading classic PC games that just can't be found in stores any more. The site has dedicated itself to selling these "Good Old Games" at affordable prices in formats tweaked to run on modern machines - and the best part: it's all DRM-free. The latest feather in GOG's cap is a
