When you’ve got a galaxy-sized problem, when no one else can help, and if you can find them, you need the A … er, the Iron Marines! Fortunately, they won’t be hard to find come next month, as Ironhide Game Studio, the company behind the Kingdom Rush trilogy, is preparing to drop the Iron Marines into battle on iOS and Android September 14.

Described as a “real-time, dynamic and deep strategy game,” Iron Marines will put you in command of soldiers, mecha and aliens as you tackle 14 campaign missions across two different and mysterious worlds. Ironhide is touting a variety of mission types, huge Boss battles and three different difficulty levels. Not enough content? The game will also have 10 Special Operations to put your strategy muscles (those are inside your head, we think) to the test with their own special rules.

Naturally, you’ll have plenty of weapons and upgrades to survive all of this. Along with troops you can assign to different roles based on their weaponry, expect to see “bomb strikes, intelligent mines, support troops, turrets and a wide range of special weapons.” Plus, as you can see in the trailer below, it appears there will be some snappy dialogue bits to keep the overall tone from getting too heavy and perhaps some shout-outs to classic sci-fi properties as well.

Did we mention the nine different heroes, each with their own special powers? We probably should have, and the fact that you’ll be able to get the mercenary named Fate as a special 48-hour gift beginning on launch day. Android users won’t even have to wait that long, seeing as they can pre-register now┬áto find out when the game goes live on Sept. 14.

It’s a tough galaxy out there, but the Iron Marines sound like they’ll be able to handle it. We’re looking forward to finding out.
