As any rabid mobile games fan will tell you, most weeks see their biggest releases surface late Wednesday night. This week, however, is a bit of an exception. Because Nintendo is launching their next game tonight/early tomorrow, it seems that everything we’ve been tracking has hit the App Store and Google Play a little early to get ahead of the competition. Loosely translated, this means you can play almost everything on tonight’s list right now.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Nintendo’s second major mobile release will be hitting the App Store and Google Play starting February 2nd, so when midnight ticks around, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a download! Fans of Fire Emblem already love the strategy-meets-fantasy gameplay the series is known for, and if this is your first time, we have some good news: there’s a whole back catalog of great Fire Emblem games on Nintendo’s handheld devices that will be worth exploring once you’re hooked.
If you prefer your Nintendo-inspired gameplay a little more old school, Warlock’s Tower should fit the bill. It’s a GameBoy-style mobile experience that’s available now, and offers a unique puzzle challenge as players step into the well-worn shoes of a letter carrier who can only take three more steps before he dies. Need another idle clicker in your life? Charming Keep is the latest release in the genre, and it comes to us from Mighty Games — aka, makers of the fantabulous Shooty Skies and Disney Crossy Road. There seems to be plenty of cute silliness in this one, so if you’re an iOS gamer and a fan of idle clickers, you’ll be pleased to know it’s available now.
Phil Hassey (Emoj.io, Breakfinity) is back in the multiplayer gaming arena once more, debuting his second “.io” style combat game and upping the ante with battlefield warfare, creative elements, and poppin’ neon pixel art. If you’ve always wanted to be a digital tank commander, you can download TANKOUT for free from the App Store and Google Play right now.
Snailboy: Rise of Hermitron
If you’ve been looking for a new mobile platformer with great character art, you can stop reading and go download Snailboy right now. The game launched for free earlier this week and looks absolutely stunning. Even better, with the “pull and shoot” mechanics, it’s not hard to see how this was made with mobile gamers in mind.
