Little games on a big scale — that seems to be the theme for this week’s new iOS and Android games. From driving through the apocalypse and surviving the depths of space, to running your own kingdom and jumping into a console quality experience, this week goes big.

Want something little instead? Be sure to check back on Thursday for our complete roundup of new mobile games you should know about this week.

PAKO, the fantastic car chase simulator, is celebrating its second birthday this week by giving you a very special present: a new mode set in a post-apocalyptic society! Dodge meteors and fraternize with zombies when this free update for existing PAKO owners hits tomorrow. Expect one new map, three new cars, and weapons that pop up when you’re close enough to need them.

Managing a kingdom is hard — and so is dating. Reigns merges both concepts (kinda), by bringing a Tindr-like interface to nation-management decisions. With a quick swipe left or right, you can make choices that will pander and displease in equal measure. And best of all, you don’t even have to wait until tonight. Reigns has popped up a few hours early, and is now available on both the App Store and Google Play.

Eisenhorn: XENOS

The latest game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe is a console quality action game that’s launching on desktops and mobile at the same time — and that time is today. Do battle as an Inquisitor whose mission is to protect the Imperium from all who threaten it. Customer reviews of the PC version have been mixed, but if you’re looking to try something sizable on your phone, you can get Eisenhorn: XENOS from the App Store right now.

It’s a Space Thing

Here’s a neat little indie that might fly under the radar this week. Run back and forth blasting upwards as you try to defend against enemies real and virtual. Square off against AI opponents (and bosses), or battle a pal in same-device multiplayer. If you’re a sucker for minimalist pixel art, consider this one worth a look.
