Mabinogi is a popular “fantasy life” RPG from Nexon that lets you create an avatar and indulge in merriment and frolic. It’s free and it’s browser-based, which makes it accessible.

Currently, The only thing more popular than fleeing reality via the Internet (perhaps after dyeing your hair an outlandish anime color) is card-battling games in the vein of Blizzard’s Hearthstone. So it’s logical that Nexon would develop Mabinogi Duel, a tactical card game based around the Mabinogi universe.

Mabinogi Duel lets you trade cards with pals, each of which is adorned with some very pretty artwork. Gazing at the nice pictures ultimately won’t slaughter your enemies, however. You need to use those cards in matches against rivals, both in the single-player campaign mode and in multiplayer PvP matches. To the victor goes more cool cards.

Mabinogi Duel is free, and it recently soft-launched in several countries, including Canada. If you’d like to get in early on some card-trading but you don’t live in the frigid North, here’s how to get a Canadian iTunes account.

A worldwide release will follow soon, but you can visit the game’s main site for now.
