Is it weird to have a week as big as this and still come away feeling disappointed? Despite having more than enough to play right now, we’re a little shocked and forlorn that Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 hasn’t appeared on the App Store yet. The game debuted on Android last weekend, making an iOS release this week seem almost inevitable.

Alas, I suppose we’ll just have to console ourselves with these:

Angry Birds 2

angry birds 2

There have been plenty of spin-offs and side projects for Rovio’s lead franchise, but make no mistake — this sequel is a sequel. When we first went hands-on earlier this year, it wasn’t hard to see this as “what Angry Birds would look like if it was made in 2015.” If you’ve ever been a fan of this series, today is the day you should return to the nest.

Race the Sun

race the sun

A very cool PC game (later turned a very cool PlayStation game), Race the Sun seemed to take key lessons from the mobile market while never bowing to the pressure to actually become a mobile game. Today that changes, as one of the most unique, beautiful and addictive endless runners out there finally dips its toe in the App Store.

Domino Drop

What if matching games and falling blocks games could be different? That’s the question the creator of Pair Solitaire is asking with his second release — a game of dropping domino tiles that can’t be flipped or rotated.

Battle Golf

If you enjoyed Wrassling, you’ll want to give this a download immediately. The two games share a creative team, and this one asks you to pit your golf skills against a friend (possibly by chipping the ball right into their cranium).

Shibuya Grandmaster

shibuya

We loved it in 2010, so we’re delighted to see Shibuya make a return trip around the mobile sun. Shibuya Grandmaster is a remastered version of the original, and another great example of how matching games are best when they break from the norm.

Mechanosaur Hijacks the Moon

Asteroids killed the dinosaurs — but things didn’t have to go that way. Travel back in time with Mechanosaur and try to save your species from the inevitable (through the magic of endless one-touch gameplay).

Mazes of Karradash

If you miss the days of “Gold Box” Dungeons and Dragons games, you might want to check this out. It’s an indie RPG dungeon crawl with a first-person perspective and a retro coat of paint.

Operation Dracula

operation dracula

Offering fast and brutally difficult shooting action, you’ll want to grab Operation Dracula if you’ve ever considered yourself a fan of shmups. It’s an homage to bullet-hell games of yore, and it’s just as frantic as you’re hoping for.

Warhammer: Arcane Magic

A tactical board-game style offering set in the fantasy world of Warhammer? Yes please.
