It’s been an absurdly good week for iPhone and iPad games. So much so that a few big titles actually managed to slip in under the radar, not coming to our attention until after yesterday’s new iOS games roundup.

Normally Square Enix releases are met with a lot of hype and build-up in advance, so we were pretty surprised to discover Masters of the Masks last night — a brand new, mobile-only RPG from Square Enix with a gorgeous cel-shaded art style and a $0 price tag (though, yes, IAP are available).

While the name “Chainsaw Warrior” might conjure up images of the most uber-violent game you’ve ever played, it’s actually a pretty fantastic card game on a tight clock. This week Chainsaw Warrior sees a sequel hit iOS (and Android) that brings the card-based fight to an army of undead Aztecs.

Halo: Spartan Assault

Yes, that Halo. Microsoft surprised us all this week by launching the previously Windows-phone exclusive Halo: Spartan Assault on iOS. A side-story to the main games, this one is a top-down shooter that takes place between Halo 3 and Halo 4.

Continuing the surprise train, Microsoft also launched a sequel to Spartan Assault yesterday — and it released simultaneously on Windows Phone and iOS.

The latest entry in Glu’s Frontline Commando series returns players to fight in Europe, as you “make your way to the heart of Berlin, and lead the Allied forces to victory!”  So, y’know… No pressure.
