Okay, normally I’m not a big fan of adding superficial updates to a game just to dupe you into playing it again, or grabbing an in-app purchase that you wouldn’t normally look twice at, but in this case it’s actually kinda cool. Very cool, in fact.

Imangi Studios has teamed up with the Bruce Lee Estate to bring the Little Dragon to Temple Run 2 as a playable runner.

“As one of the most talented martial artists of all time, we think that Bruce Lee is a perfect fit for the Temple Run franchise,” says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios. “In addition to his speed and agility, we also celebrate his philosophies with words of wisdom when players need it most.”

Lee, who would have been celebrating his 75th birthday this year, is recreated in super-fast style as players guide him away from the ever-angry Demon Monkeys. Also a prolific philosopher as well as a celebrated martial artist, Lee drops valuable wisdom punches on players between chases to help inspire as well as entertain.

His daughter, Shannon Lee, now runs his estate, and seems very happy his digital recreation. “I’m very excited to have my father become part of the Temple Run family,” she explains. “Not only is this a great and fun way to celebrate my father’s birthday, but I’m grateful that my father’s legacy will continue to live on for fans of all ages via our partnership with Imangi.”

Bruce Lee is available now as a playable character in all Temple Run 2 platforms, including iOS, Android, Amazon and even Windows Phone 8.
