WWE Immortals Release Date Confirmed, Images Teased

Just before the holidays, Warner Bros. Interactive teased a rather interesting project. NetherRealm Studios (a WB subsidiary, and the keepers of the Mortal Kombat flame) were confirmed to be working on a new mobile game featuring the world’s greatest wrestling superstars: WWE Immortals.

Beyond the title and studio though, little else was revealed. We were told it would be a “fantastically re-imagined WWE world,” and we could expect it sometime in 2015.

Today we have our first glimpse of that world, as well as a WWE Immortals release date — and it’s coming sooner than you think. The game will arrive on the App Store and Google Play on January 15th.

Seamus as a Celtic Warrior, John Cena as a superhero, The Big Show as…. what is that? A Game of Thrones extra? It all seems rather fitting for NetherRealm. The Bella Twins even look like the studio took some Mortal Kombat concept art and painted their heads on at the last minute.

This is a game that’s very clearly in their wheelhouse.

There’s still no word on the gameplay, but we’re going to stick with our prediction of an Injustice-style brawler. Whether we’re right or wrong, it won’t be long until we find out. WWE Immortals release date is locked down for January 15th.
