While it was familiar fun, 2012’s mobile port of Crazy Taxi left us hungry for something new. After all, there are only so many times you can port the same classic game before “classic” starts to lose meaning.

We wanted something different. We wanted something fresh. We wanted a Crazy Taxi that was developed from the ground up for mobile.

Crazy Taxi: City Rush looks to be just what the doctor ordered.

We’ve had a chance to go hands-on with the game thanks to it’s Canadian soft launch, and can report that it’s a Crazy Taxi unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. We’ll be spending some more time with it before it’s release to determine whether or not that’s a good thing or bad thing, but right now we’re leaning positive.

It’s actually quite good fun.

There’s no firm release date yet, though a recent tweet from the game’s official account said we can expect Crazy Taxi: City Rush to hit Android and iOS sometime in August.

In the meantime, SEGA was kind enough to share some screens to introduce Gamezebo’s readers to the drivers and mission types you’ll find in the game. (And if that’s not enough to tide you over, here’s how to get a Canadian iTunes account of your own):
