New iOS Games Tonight: Jet Car Stunts 2, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and more!

Well it looks like we made it fellow gamers: 2014 has arrived! And while most of us are either still recovering from a night spent out in the freezing cold at Times Squares to watch the ball drop, or battling a stomachache from eating one too many pigs in a blanket, there’s nothing that cures those New Year’s Day blues than a fresh batch of brand new mobile games. And luckily for you, in a few short hours you’ll be getting just that!

And since we’re on the topic of ringing in the New Year, one of my immediate New Year’s resolutions is to play every single new iOS game that will be hitting the App Store later on tonight: from a very transformative SEGA-themed racer, to a long-awaited sequel that has you pulling off some more exhilarating vehicle stunts. Of course, sitting in front of my iPad all night sure won’t be helping my other “get more exercise” resolution, but I guess we all need to make sacrifices every now and again.

Jet Car Stunts 2 – The original Jet Car Stunts from True Axis was one of the very first games I ever downloaded on my smartphone way back in the beginning of 2010 (which might as well be decades as far as the App Store is concerned). And now at the start of 2014 we’re going to be getting a surprise sequel to the exhilarating and high-tech game about pulling off the craziest of stunts in a nitro-powered car. Bringing back the insane mid-air courses filled with floating objects and all sorts of wild obstacles, Jet Car Stunts 2 features a total of 120 brand new levels, 7 different cars to complete them with, and 4 different game modes to keep you plenty busy in the New Year.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed – Speaking of sequels to excellent racing games, Sonic and friends are also back tonight with the mobile release of 2012’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. This time around, all of your favorite SEGA characters will be taking the driver’s seat of wacky cars that have the ability to transform into planes and boats right in the middle of a race, so the competition can move off that boring old land and continue strong in both the air and at sea! With a wide range of iconic SEGA characters to race as, not to mention beautiful graphics and fluid controls, the Sonic & All-Stars franchise continues to show that karting-based racing games can indeed be done well on a mobile device.

Feed Me Oil 2 – Boy this really is the week of long-awaited sequels, isn’t it? The original Feed Me Oil wasn’t the most well-known physics puzzler to ever come to the App Store, but there’s no denying that it scratched that itch for a lovably weird and fun little game. Tonight’s Feed Me Oil 2 marks a return to the bizarre little world of anamorphic environmental objects that need your help to give them oil by manipulating tons of fun machinery and tools. But now here’s the thing: the visuals in Feed Me Oil 2 are absolutely gorgeous, and miles above the simple cartoony illustrations that filled up the first game. It looks like someone was feeding the developers a little oil too to keep that creativity burning!
