Game Introduction – Kingdoms & Monsters

Kingdoms & Monsters is a social game created by Mobile Monsters. In it, you’ll build a kingdom, gather resources, and complete quests. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to play your best game.

Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

  • Kingdoms & Monsters is free to play, and can be downloaded by clicking the “Play Now!” option at the top of this page.
  • When you first fire up the game, you’ll be greeted by Charles, a servant of your newly inherited kingdom and one of your guides to the game.

Kingdoms & Monsters

  • From the start, you’ll be given quests to follow. The early ones work as a tutorial and it is recommended you follow them until you get a grasp for the game.

Resource Management

  • When Charles first introduces you to your kingdom, he’ll give you some basic quests in order to help gather resources and expand your land. Resources are required to do almost everything in the game.
  • There are three key resources that are measured on the bottom of the screen: Gold, Crystals, and Raw Materials. Gold is used for nearly everything, from buying a building, to adding new land, to placing decorations. Gold can be earned by completing quests, building cottages (which generate it passively), or by purchasing packs on Google Play.

  • Crystals are the game’s premium currency. They will occasionally be earned by completing quests, but the easiest way to get them is via in-app purchase. Crystals are generally used as a time-saver, allowing you to build structures instantly. They can also be used to purchase many decorations that are not available for purchase with gold.
  • Raw Materials essentially represent how productive your kingdom is. Many buildings generate a set number of raw materials and add them to your counter. These are primarily used to expand certain buildings.
  • Throughout the game, you’ll encounter numerous other resources, as well. Water, bread, sugar, buttons, and numerous others will be used to complete quests and upgrade buildings. There’s also a percentage meter in the bottom left corner that shows how happy the residents are. This can be increased by growing the kingdom and placing decorations.

Growing Your Kingdom

  • Quests are the easiest way to take charge and grow your kingdom. While the game’s early quests work as a simple tutorial, the later ones come with requirements that make you walk off the beaten path a ways.

Kingdoms & Monsters

  • The easiest way to find quests (the way the vast majority of them will be accepted) is through the book icon on the left side of the screen. From there, your quests (or “tasks”) will be available. Some of them are as simple as building a cottage, while others sound simpler than they are. Baking bread isn’t difficult, but it will require you to gather wheat and water first.

Kingdoms & Monsters

  • Your castle helps influence your population and growth. The castle can be upgraded up to 40 times, increasing your kingdom’s population each time.

Kingdoms & Monsters

  • If you run out of room, you can purchase a deed from the Orc Merchant, allowing you to purchase a new plot of land. You can only purchase one deed per level, unless you use Crystals.
  • When you expand into new land, you’ll find that a lot of space is taken up by trees, mushrooms, rocks, and crates. You can use gold and time to destroy each of these one at a time in order to have more room to expand the kingdom.

Kingdoms & Monsters

  • After a while, you’ll be introduced to the marketplace. The market is where you can look at orders the townspeople have placed and what you need to give them to complete it. Completing these orders is a quick way to earn gold, experience, and other resources.

Kingdoms & Monsters

  • You’ll occasionally find people walking around town with an exclamation point above their heads. These are new residents to town who need you to help them move in so they can provide new resources and quests. It’s usually in your best interest to help them as soon as possible.

Tips and Tricks

  • Building a lot of resource generators early on will help you expand your kingdom later on. Take the time to build a few extra cottages and be sure to gather wheat, water, sugar, and bread as often as possible. They’ll become useful far sooner than you’d think.

Kingdoms & Monsters

  • There are some quests that require you to spend crystals to complete it. If you’re a completionist, be sure to save a few crystals so you can quickly take care of these quests when they appear.
  • On a similar note, certain buildings are locked until you reach a certain level. Occasionally, you’ll encounter a quest that requires that certain building or decoration. If you need to level up, the quickest way to earn a bit of experience is by collecting resources and fulfilling orders at the market. Completing other quests also gives big experience, if any are available.
  • There’s no competitive aspect, so the layout of your kingdom isn’t wildly important. That said, the more centered your castle is, the easier it will be to keep your people happy and productive. With this in mind, when you expand your borders, try to build evenly around your castle.
