Zombie + robot = unstoppable mutant gladiator.

Don’t you ever wish you could just take all your favorite aspects from different character genres like robots, zombies, and vampires, and blend them all together into one enormous fusion of awesome? Well you’re in luck, because now you’ll have the chance with an upcoming Facebook game called Mutants: Genetic Gladiators.

Mutants: Genetic Gladiators is planned to be both multiplatform and free-to-play, with an emphasis on the “mid-core” playing level of gamers, which means the game will be nice and easy to get into, but also offer a more engrossing challenge for players who are looking for one. The game by Kobojo will be the company’s first release under their brand new business plan, which features Mario Rizzo serving as the chief executive officer, and whose past accolades include his work as the head of Free-to-Play at Ubisoft’s Worldwide Studios.

In the game, players will be provided with several different genre species, such as zombies and robots, which they can then use to combine different parts and create some seriously freaky Frankenstein-like mutant fighters. Your warrior’s powers will be dependent upon these different combinations, too: so for example, I’m sure it’s entirely possible for your fighter to have the searing laser attack of most robots I know, with the lust for brains that makes the race of zombies such fierce competitors in the ring.

Once your freakish gladiators are assembled, players will take to a number of ruthless and fascinating battle arenas set in various places around the world, with the idea being to win more battles, and then collect new and even freakier species to create the ultimate unstoppable mutant gladiator. So in a way, I guess you could say it’s sort of like a twisted version of Pokemon: well, you know, if Pikachu and friends had been replaced with mutated zombie parts and the like, then I guess you could say there’s a touch of similarity.

Not much else is known about the freaky fighting game right now, other than a few early screenshots that depict some of the odd and wild combinations you’ll be able to dream up, as well as seeing these creations getting ready to square off in battle. While the game is currently being tested in a closed beta period, the full public release of Mutants: Genetic Gladiators is first expected to launch this July on Facebook, with a mobile release planned for a few months down the road.
