Triple Town developer SpryFox have announced their next game today, and it looks to be just as adorable and addictively fun as every other title in their impressive catalogue. Road Not Taken is described as a “puzzle game about life and loss,” and is inspired by the 1916 Robert Frost poem of the same name.
The actual gameplay is said to blend the puzzle rooms of Zelda with the gorgeous artwork of Brent “Meowza” Kobayashi to provide over a hundred hours of entertainment. I don’t know if I can handle another game completely taking over my life like Triple Town did, but I do know that I will be fully prepared when it inevitable does.
Road Not Taken’s debut teaser trailer can be seen on the official SpryFox YouTube channel, and features a mysterious little hooded guy braving a harsh snowstorm in a winter forest. Maybe that’s the reason why so many of us like to stick to all of those safe and nicely-paved roads! It’s unclear right now what the actual gameplay will be like, but it seems another Triple Town-like grid aspect might be included in the mix. And from looking at the first official screenshot of the game, I see a very familiar-looking bear standing next to the various woodland critters of the forest.
The game is currently expected to debut on PC sometime in late 2013, with mobile and tablet platforms to eventually follow. Be sure to keep checking back on Gamezebo for a full preview of SpryFox’s next sure-to-be hit once more information about Road Not Taken is released.
