More abstract puzzle games is always a good thing.
Bigger isn’t always better, especially when it comes to mobile games. Sometimes all you need is a fun way to kill a little time, and Winning Blimp is hoping everyone will be doing that by playing Mosaique. This futuristic and classily named puzzler is coming soon to iOS and Android, and while it’s not easy to explain, it still looks awfully intriguing.
The creators of Mosaique make no bones about the fact that it’s a short game. In fact they planned it that way, figuring people could use it to pass the time in transit (not while you are driving – safety first!) or waiting for someone. If you want to rush through it, they estimate its seven levels can be finished in just 10 minutes.
You’ll get fresh music for the whole time, since the soundtrack is also 10 minutes long. And since there are no time limits, you might just want to take your time anyway. The levels are randomly generated for each session, so there should be some nice replay value.
The game even has a cool backstory, since it’s supposed to be the pastime of the people of Stratopeia played during trips to their largest moon, Vraxis. That might be true for all I know – I’ve never been off-world. The stylish interface definitely suits it, looking almost like a game within a game.
What’s that? The gameplay? Well, it involves rows of colored squares that can be manipulated one at a time, and beyond that, I’m not quite sure. The keys to success lie in these four words: “Perception. Attraction. Connection. Resolution.”
If that piqued your curiosity, you’ll have a chance to try unraveling Mosaique in your mobile ecosystem of choice on May 9. You can always ask the Stratopeians for help if you get stuck.
