Frontline Commando: D-Day Preview

D-Day’s Normandy landings rank amongst humanity’s bloodiest moments. That intense, chaotic atmosphere is what Glu Games is reaching for with Frontline Commando: D-Day, a third-person shooter for iOS and Android. The console-quality graphics aren’t meant to glorify the violence that tore up the Allied and Axis soldiers, but the stark visuals and sound recapture the intensity of D-Day.

Storm Normandy’s beaches in this realistic third-person shooter from Glu.

The action in Frontline Commando: D-Day takes place from a third-person perspective. You lead the charge through the Normandy countryside, which means you’ll be in the thick of everything as the trenches are cleared and the French towns are liberated from Nazi rule. Crisp control and full voiceovers accompany you as you fight.

Frontline Commando: D-Day boasts a large single-player campaign that includes 145 missions. If you’re a history buff, you’ll recognize some actual beach landings, including Sword, Juno, Gold, Omaha, and more. You can arm yourself with everything from stationary guns to anti-aircraft guns, machine guns, and classic rifles as you go up against tanks and bombers. When all else fails, you can dig up a bazooka or just call in artillery strikes to squash the German tanks like so many tins of rations.

Wherever you go, and whatever you do, you’re behind enemy lines, so expect to navigate around minefields and through reams of barbed wire. The good news is that you can make use of cover points to hide yourself from enemy fire—and retaliate when the coast is clear.

Frontline Commando: D-Day is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
