Vampire Season Preview

Ahh, vampire season. That little-known span of time sandwiched between fall and winter, where all the vampires come out and feast heartily on blood. I look forward to it every year. Despite the name, the upcoming game Vampire Season from 6waves and Brainz actually has nothing to do with it. But it does feature a cast of classic monsters, not to mention the King of the Night himself: Dracula.

Vampire Season

Vampire Season features gameplay with elements from both the tower defense and real-time strategy genres. Players will be tasked with building up an army of boogiemen, zombies, vampires and other creatures, all in the name of protecting Dracula’s coffin. You see, the coffin has been located by the likes of vampire hunters, interior decorators and jocks. The usual suspects, really.

If regular vampires and zombies aren’t your style, you’ll be pleased to know that you can fuse creatures into new monstrosities. Like Zampires! I understand if you think I’m making that up, but that is an actual in-game character.

All of this will be done within a dedicated story mode, featuring locales like swamps, dungeons, forests and laboratories. In other words, spooky places. For those of you who are anti-story, there will also be a survival mode where players can go up against never-ending waves of enemies. This survival mode will also contain a PvP section where you can compete against friends via Facebook Connect.

Vampire Season

As eerie as I may have made it sound, Vampire Season isn’t a game that wants to scare you. It’s meant to be tongue-in-cheek, a detail I imagine you picked up on at the first sight of “Zampire”. You’ll be able to see for yourself when the game hits iOS on June 28, a date that thankfully falls well before the actual vampire season. I’m all for synergy, but that might be a little too spooky. Possibly even as spooky as this.
