Diablo III Preview

It’s coming. Oh Daddy is it coming. That old, familiar, comfortable sound of the left mouse button being pummeled far beyond submission by the return of Blizzard’s action RPG mothership Diablo series. It’s been a long time since Blizzard released anything official with the “Diablo” name on it, just shy of 11 years at this point, but it’s righting that wrong in mid-May with the third major installment, aptly titled Diablo III.

Diablo III returns to the world of Sanctuary 20 years after Tyrael destroyed the Worldstone. Deckard Cain has spent that time trying to figure what effect this cataclysmic event had on his world. He has taken to teaching a young girl the lore of Horadrim but new evil forces are threatening what life is left and new heroes must arise to face them.

For the first time you’ll wander through a fully-realized 3D Sanctuary. You’ll get your choice of five different character classes: Barbarian, Wizard, Monk, Demon Hunter or the all-new Witch Doctor. Use the environment for the first time to set traps, pull in obstacles or just generally rain hell on your foes by collapsing the world around them. The skill system has been overhauled, life is regenerated via orbs dropped by enemies and the “mercenaries” you grew familiar with in Diablo II have transformed into “The Caravan”.

Get your clicking-finger ready and tell your loved-ones you’ll see them in a year or two – this one’s gonna be worth the wait.
